I love the fact that was his defence against his wife's accusations of a couch-potato lifestyle :)

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Interesting article about space travel 100 years from now and Nasa's panel to get people (smart ones) thinking about how it would be done.  Link below

But will it have a transporter?

Wow, there have been shots of Mercury before as fly-bys, but not as an orbiting craft.  Looks mostly like our moon,  Check out this interesting article

The Colliderites are all abuzz over the new result of high energy collisions, at the Tevatron's Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF).  In a development physicists are calling "huge," "tantalizing" and "unexpected," researchers have measured a signal that could herald a new kind of particle or force of nature.  Is it the Higgs boson?  the previously undiscovered Ricon???

see what the hubbub is all about here.

Neat interactive photo of the sky.  Click on the link that says "here" and go to the photo.  You can drag it, zoom in and out, highlight names of the constellations, and go gaga on the result of 37,000 separate photos stitched together.

University of Maryland students will try to win the prize, but it will be hard.  See the article and video about it here.  Generating a sustained horsepower output of 1 HP human powered - whew!  Ahh, the human spirit!

When I was just a little Scurrilean tuffta I had always dreamed of possibly one day seeing fusion working in our time.  The attached article link says that day is now getting closer, possibly, and for billions less than the other government programs.  Catch up on the fusion fringe here.

PS.  do you guys like reading about real science? let me know.

Now there's a title to capture the imagination of TISF fans.  Read about the new X prize for someone to invent a real tri-corder, although my offspring has a real cool tri-corder app on her smart phone already that really does provide real information.  Read about it here.  Sorry if someone else already posted...
