Just starting this week, Hulu Plus subscribers can view their content on their PS3's.  I decided to try Hulu Plus for one month (it's $9.95 now and might go to $4.95).  It's pretty nice to easily watch HD content (720p) via Hulu Plus on the PS3 & HDTV.  Less commercials, more content, nice streaming.  This is a good fit for me right now since I have very minimal cable TV at the apartment, no TIVO, etc.  Between this and streaming Netflix I'm pretty set.  Also, if you download and use something like PS Media Server or TVersity on your computer you can stream other content right off your computer hard drive.  Even things like .mkv files, itunes, etc. without any file conversion needed.  Pretty cool!  Anyway, just thought I'd mention it

LoveFilm have just announced a tie up for streaming services on the PS3 over here too. I'm not quite sure what it means since I don't think they have a lot to stream but it's a start, I guess.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

If Hulu+ goes to $4.95 a month, I will seriously consider it.  Until then, not convinced :) but thanks for the update Rico!

I think it probably will, especially with this new PS3 support.  Now, if it just was completely commercial free!  But even with a few ad's it's still a lot better than broadcast TV.

I'm loving Hulu and Netflix. I have my HTPC hooked up to my living room TV and I run:

Windows 7 Media Center for the Netflix plugin (which is great and a better interface than the Boxee version IMHO.)

Hulu Desktop

Boxee for local media and a plethora of other online content.

All this works with the MCE remote.

Upstairs I have a Popcorn Hour which streams local media and using TVersity to transcode Hulu content as well although that will soon be replaced witha mini HTPC.

I'm seriously considering downscaling my cable package as I can get most of the shows I want this way for cheaper.

And yes I am in the UK but there are ways around that. ;)

Awesome Dan!  Educate all our other UK folks on how to get all this great content to work.

Well if anybody wants to try Hulu they can use "Hotspot Shield" which will give them a US ip address to allow it to work. It's nit perfect and sometimes doesn't work and you have to reconnect but it is free so ideal if you just want to see what it's like. I have a dedicated VPN service that is rock solid and pretty cheap I use instead.

Netflix is a little more tricky. You can't do anything with it unless you have a US IP firstly. Then to sign up you need yo use a US address (just make sure you don't order any discs!). You get 1 month free trial when you sign up but you have to supply payment details. Credit cards don't work as they check the registered Zip Code against it but Netflix accept paypal and this seems to have worked for me. :)

Hmmm. The only US address I know is Rick Moyer's! I don't think he'd be blessed by 50 new Netflix subscriptions at his house if we all tried this!

What's the monthly cost, out of interest, and how much content is actually available?

If Hulu+ goes cheaper, I will most likely get it at this point, iPhone integration, ability to watch shows without restrictions, it makes it way better than Cable.  I initially had issues with ads still being in place, but Cable's ads are still way worse and their prices are much higher so I'm much more receptive to Hulu+ now.

I think it's $8.99 or $9.99 per month for Netflix can't remember. Unlimited streaming though. Obviously standard Hulu is a free service.

I have found Netflix streaming movies not to be the newest but they have a great selection of TV Shows.

I've not had much chance to browse it completely bur I do think its worth the money.

Oh and for an address I just browsed a Real Estate website. ;)

Dan - you are 'da man!

Well, Hulu Plus is now cheaper.  They dropped the price to $7.99.  Which is a good start.  I do have one little issue with the service so far.  Some things are "web only" and I can't view them via my PS3.  Kind of bugs me.  "Chuck" is one example of this.  I don't really get why this is the case.  I'm paying for the service, why do they care if I'm viewing it on my PS3/TV or my computer?  Weird.
