The Impending ROBOT APOCALYPSE!
« on: November 04, 2010, 09:22:09 PM »
I know that "Robot Apocalypse" is simply an internet meme, but sometimes, I see stuff that makes me almost think something like "The Terminator" or BSG could actually happen one day.

Stuff like this:

Quite stunning the craftmanship thats gone into the face. Almost like Blade Runner
In life all you need to be happy is a roof over your head, a bottle of wine and a good episode of Star Trek....everything else is a bonus.

Stunning, but CREEPY.  :-\   Watching the video and seeing the almost lifelike movement and expression is one of the most scary things I've seen online in a while.

Are you telling me that's REALLY a robot? I dismissed it on a cursory viewing as an actress playing a part.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Dude; it really is a robot.  Check out the forehead "muscle" twitches as it changes expression:

ACTROID-F in AIST Open Lab 2010 02

It's designed to help comfort hospital patients.  Check out the story-

The fact that the hospital robot's "voice" is from speakers instead of its face is disconcerting.  But check this out:

Creepy Robot Mouth Video

I give it 5 years tops before this technology is refined enough to create a humanoid robotic face capable of mimicking human speech  :cylon

Yeah, I'm working on it right now with a underground group of Mercs and Scientists and Biotics.  We'll beat the crap out of anyone who gets in the way on our quest to kill the Reapers.....wait wrong topic.

LOL!  Go get 'em!  ;)

I can't help myself; I find this stuff fascinating.  It's freakin' cool to watch the progress being made in this field.

Speaking of which, what would one call this field?  Humanoid Robotics? *shrug*

Anyway, here's another one I heard about today.
