Had a lot of fun doing this - as usual.  There are so many characters to cover - too many for one show.  One day I will have to do another show with this subject.  But I cover a good cross-section I think.  Thanks for the audio comments - and especially thanks to Rick for his new, awesome song!   :metallica:

Thanks for another cool show guys. Trek Sidekicks was a grood topic.
It's fun to spot a favorite sidekick in other roles on TV or movies.

Meds mentioned Colm Meaney, he seems to pop up everywhere. I like his acting too.
He was good as "Cowen" in Stargate: Atlantis and as J. Rabbitte in The Commitments. (a movie worth owning).

Great show, great song and cool comments. Another great start to a Monday from Mr Rico.

Np Joe.  You know, I've never understood that expression, sick as a dog.  Kaylee is rarely sick it seems.

billybob476

haha, true. What DOES get sick a lot? :)

Now that it's all over, I've finally worked out who would have been worthy of a comment. I spent a while trying to pick somweone I felt strongly enough about to discuss and got nowehere. Now it's all over, I've finally remebered Zek and Wallace Shawn with that unique voice of his. Oh well.

Good show. I think you're right, you probably could do a greater in depth series of sidekick shows for each series. It makes a change to talk about characters rather than episodes.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Finally got to this episode.. very enjoyable and I know it must have been tough picking only a few out of so many. Was surprised that you didn't mention Guinan, but I know there are so many great ones.. Tasha/Sela  Wish I would have had time to send in comments.

Anyways another great one Rico.. and of course Rick another fantastic song.

Ah, so I'm not the only one who was a bit surprised Guinan wasn't given a mention. Whoopi Goldberg's character was pretty intriguing. We only ever found out a few facts about her in Next Gen: she and Q are antagonists, her species are obviously long-lived, and Guinan was present in Earth's past. Unlike other characters in Star Trek, such as Garak or Odo in DS9, we never really learn the truth, so-to-speak, about this interesting person.

By the way, Morn would be another character that fits this episode's theme. Ever silent, and almost never really central, there's still something great about having such a character. I seem to remember he was about to speak in one scene, part of Quark's interrogation, but his memory was stopped just short of allowing us to hear him (another silent character was Mr Hom? on Star Trek NG).
