I'm gonna go out on a limb and say 'Galaxy Quest' because you can just imagine the TNG cast getting abducted by a race of aliens to save them from inhalation. Plus Alan Rickman is brilliant in it.

Funny - I watched it again over the 4th of July weekend :)
Sigourney Weaver mentioned wanting to do the sequel here:

As far as favorite underrated movies, I'd like to submit two of my favorites for your consideration...

A 1997 Crime Drama - Jackie Brown

Quentin Tarantino directed this smart thriller and great cast.

Samuel L. Jackson is back playing opposite Pam Grier!
with
Robert Forster
Bridget Fonda
Michael Keaton
Robert De Niro
Michael Bowen
and
Chris Tucker

Or

Repo Man
A goofy Sci-fi Action Comedy
Written and directed by Alex Cox and produced by Micheal Nesmith

Harry Dean Stanton
Emilio Estevez

I really enjoyed Speed Racer. People say it was a ridiculous movie but if you take it for what it is it was a very close reproduction of the cartoon. Also I really think it had a lot of heart.

A couple underrated movies I really like are Titan AE and U571, both I have watched many times over.

ElfManDan

They're not scifi or fantasy but two of my favorite films I believe to be underrated are "Madison" and "The World's Fastest Indian." Both are films about racing sport and that might be why I like them so much, but I think anyone could enjoy them.

Bryancd

here's one I saw recently I always liked, "A League of Their Own".

Two Non Sci-Fi/Action movies that I had seen over the past few years, that I really liked where Click and Yes Man, both I thought would be light hearted comedies, but they both had a deeper message to them that sort of touched me, and left me rethinking certain things about life. Wasn't expecting it out of either of those movies.

I LOVE "The Long Kiss Goodnight".  I'm not sure why it wasn't more well-received.  It's got great stars, fun action, entertaining dialogue.  I wish it was on Blu Ray.  I'd buy it immediately.
