Well fellow geeks, the year is almost over and it was a good one to be a geek. From The Harry Potter to Star Trek to Transformers II, to AVATAR, it was a good year to be nerdy. So what was the BEST geek film of the year?

I say, AVATAR 3-D. I am completely enraptured by this film.

Ahh, "Dark Knight" was 2008.  I did my picks on the recent vidcast.  Of course for me, my favorite was "Star Trek."

I'm going with Avatar.  Second would be Transformers 2

I would have gone for Star Trek, but have been waiting till I had seen Avatar before making my mind up. Needless to say, I have just returned and Star Trek comes in second....Avatar was trully awesome. My new all time favourite sci-fi / fantasy film. Even over Star Wars and Lord Of The Rings....and I love these movies!!

Avatar gets my vote.  I like the sci-fi ideas of Surrogate - even if the movie itself wasn't that great.  The stinker of the year for me was Pandorum.  It could have been a great movie - but degenerated into silly slash'em up action.

I have not seen Avatar yet and probably won't until the Blu-Ray is released. That said I may change my mind later but my "favorite" movie of the year was Star Trek. However, if the vote is for "best" film and not favorite I might have to say UP or District 9. I know they are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum but I do think they both are fantastically done films. Battle For Terra would be high up on my list as well.

You really should try and see it in 3D in the theater, Kevin, it's 100% worth the price of admission!

I second that vote - 3D is the way to go.  Not sure how I will enjoy any non 3D movies going forward...I am spoiled now!

I would say Star Trek-It really rocked.  Of course I am a HUGE fan.  --- but Avatar was really cool too, not plot wise, visually.  Even though District 9 was loaded with F bombs, it made you think a lot.

I have been and always will be, your friend.
