Yeah, apparently we will all be getting a free one on the 25th, cool!

Not surprised. They were bleeding subscribers on this game pretty badly. From what I gathered, it was due to lack of interesting content to keep people in the game.

Free to play started on Thursday...been playing again. I find the game entertaining enough, just hate paying for subscriptions when my playtime lately is pretty limited.

Thanks for the heads up on this.  I updated my game and played a little this afternoon.  I feel the same way about having "limited time" to play.  So free is good to me!  :)

I'll play it when the windows 8 surface tablet comes out ;)

Good luck on running this game on a tablet.  :)

Indeed, I had trouble running it on my i7! Actually I might give it another go, want to see how the game looks on my new video card.

I was just kidding, actually from what I've read seems like the Win 8 tablets will only run software downloaded from the "windows 8 store" whatever that is.

I don't think that's true for the full Win 8 tablets/laptops/whatever they are.  But those products have not come out yet.

The free-to-play section of SW:TOR is too restricted for me to bother with. There are ways to restrict F2P players that make sense. EA went out of their way to restrict everything you do in the game to the point that its silly and a waste of time. You can't sprint. You can only use two quick-keys. And so many other restrictions. Just...why... It wouldn't kill EA to at least attempt to make their customers feel appreciated, but they seem hell-bent on making sure they aren't at this point.

Yes, I am noticing some restrictions...like only 5 medical revivals and then you have to buy more, no speeder skill. Kind of a bummer.

It's definitely restricted but I'm not finding it too bothersome - at least not yet.

ChrisMC

Well, I was on a tough mission and died a couple times...only to run out of medical probes, so I had to run ALL the way back. Not that big a deal really, but I have played other FTP games like STO and the difference isn't as in your face. Who cares, I play once a week and I like sabering things.
