LOL! I don't even want to know what the Brits mean by it now. It seems .... naughty.

Wise move! But to be fair, we do understand the American meaning and took Rico's comment in that light.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

It was fun to have Angela with us too.  She is quite "spunky" - hehe!

What am I? Chopped liver? :D ;)

Not at all....  But I'm afraid to call you any particular word or phrase now as our UK friends seem to have invented a whole new language since we crossed the ocean.  ;)

"Do you think I meant country matters?" ;)

I don't intend to decorate the whole forum with Orci quotes, but as we discussed it in the skype call:

    QUESTION:

I understand it was a movie, but wasn't giving a 3rd year cadet a promotion to Captain (one rank below Rear Admiral) after one mission a little rushed and forced just to get Kirk in the captain's chair?

    ———————————–

Yes it would be if there were no other extenuating circumstances (like saving the world, or the recommendations of Spock Prime and Captain Pike.

People said the same about about a one term senator who jumped to the Presidency, (JFK, an inspiration for Kirk, as well as Obama).

Great show guys; lots of cool insights on the film. And I'm impressed that even with a group of participants so large, everything flowed together flawlessly.  Y'all rock! :)

I know!  I was shocked when I counted it up and realized we had 11 people with us.  Everyone did great!

Wish I'd been there as this is the one very rare topic I could go on about for hours.

Still listening to it.  Did anyone mention its success & wide appeal is due to its script?  I think its script was far stronger than the rest of the movie.  I thought the writing & story was super strong, and hard for the execution of the screenplay to live up to - which it did for the most part, but not always.

I think the script is what makes this movie appealing to the everyman (& woman).

I sort of mentioned the script in that they went back to the basics.

Another thing that I realized is the people got emotional about a character's death that we had actually never seen before. To me, that's some mighty fine writing.

Doesn't seem to be a link to the podcast from the front page. Just now found it here. Ah, now I can get my fix.
