Today's LIVE cast is now edited and up.  Had a lot of fun and glad to see many of you drop in.  Again, thanks for the comments too for those that sent some in.  Enjoy the show!

I once visited London and went to a play at Shakespears New Globe. They had only tickets for the yard, so I had no seat. At the first act I choose the place with the greatest distance to the stage. The second act I stood somewhere in the middle. The third act I stood right in frone of the stage, I could have touched the actors fighting right in front of me. It was an incredible experience and have never enjoyed theater more.

You might be on the other side of the globe, but today I had about the same feeling as I had then. :)

Rico

Great - glad you enjoyed it!  I'll see if I can do these a bit more often.  Or at least just have the webcam going while I do a "normal" show.

It was a blast. Great live show and I look forward to listening to it tomorrow once more.

Dangelus

Yep, it was great to see how it all comes together and fun to participate. Thanks Rico!

Good fun to see the start of it all, anyway. Sorry I couldn't stick around for longer but it's nice to see it all come about :)

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

globeTrekker

I was "there" but sadly wasn't able to chat. It was fun to watch/listen tho! :)

Darrell

Couldn't be there live, but was there on my ipod.  :)
Great show!  Loved hearing the old trailers and how they seemed to be less and less dated as time went on.  Great comments too.

True, Sci-Fi movies usually go for the big huge universe-ending stories... but I'm not convinced they always need to.  Look at "regular" movies that win oscars.  They're rarely about the destruction of mankind.

While Rotten Tomatoes still shows the Trek movie at 100% awesome, I will stubbornly continue to stand my ground and insist that it will suck.  That way when it blows my mind, it'll be even that much more amazing.  :)   I'm not totally serious about that of course.

I agree Darrell, the movies don't always have to be about the "end of everything we know and love."  But frankly, that seems to be what they make - especially with the Trek films.  I think a lot of it has to do with it being multiple TV series with over 700 episodes.  When they make a movie based on a long running TV show, people tend to expect it to be bigger, more "epic."  Right or wrong, it's just the way it is.  I sincerely doubt they will do a Trek movie anytime soon that won't be this type of thing.  The movie coming out in three days certainly will fit the typical, big Sci-Fi billing.  However, using something like Wrath of Khan as an example, I think you can have both.  Some nice story and character moments along with "mega" stuff happening.

P.S.  And I don't care at all what average review percent "Rotten Tomatoes" gives - anything.

Darrell

Totally agree with everything above.

I find that I usually generally agree with the consensus of Rotten Tomatoes (although I do not live & die by what it says).  So this is scaring me with my bad Trek Movie attitude.  Since I usually agree with R.T., then I willl probably love the movie.  This cannot be!  Norman!  Coordinate!!!   beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep...

Just got done listening to the podcast, GREAT STUFF!  I loved everyone's comments and the phaser review was great too.  I finally found mine at Toys R Us.  Very fun.  Good job Rico!
