Finally back with a new show in this series.  Recorded this a couple of days ago in my car.  Hopefully the audio isn't too bad.  Basically I talk about my job search and some thoughts about looking for new work.  Hope you all enjoy it!

Nice show.

I agree. In the area of job searches it sounds like the Internet really is a step backwards. In the old days you had a single resume, copied it lots of times then sent it to people. If you now have to fill in everyones little variant online form it sounds simply like making people work for it's own sake.

I guess the companies would argue that they all have unique data requirements. I don't see much sense in that though.

Still, good luck again.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

It is very redundant.  Add that to multiple agencies all posting things up for the same jobs in different ways, it kind of becomes a bit of a mess.

Feathers

I guess that's a bit of a trade off.

What I mean is that while the same jobs may be everywhere at least they're a lot more accessible than they would ever have been before. You don't have to buy the right newspaper or trade magazine to get at them now.

Hey Rico, have you tried searching for a headhunter that specializes in chemistry jobs?  Pity you don't live closer to where I live (Philadelphia) since chemical engineers can usually find something in the pharmaceutical industry around here.

Yes - there are a couple of headhunters/agencies I'm working with.  But, it still remains slow.
