I don't know what happens to her after the first novel, you may be right about her character later on. But the reason she felt like she could trust Edward was because he saved her...that's where it all started. It's a very common romantic movie theme. I'll have to think a little more and come up with other examples.
I don't want to spoil the book, but for every example of normal teen activity, there are about ten WTF Bella actions that make me cringe. I cringe when kids compare themselves to Romeo and Juliette, but there is something really mentally wrong with Bella in some of the books. It goes well beyond teen girl in love into something clinically wrong with her.

Again...have to take your word on the books that follow the first novel. I'm referring specifically to the movie and addressing the comment you made about her father and the way she is with Edward in the film. :)

I've never read the books or seen the movie, but I had a friend on Facebook who was going on and on about it "I've seen it five time today." she proclaimed. She just wouldn't stop commenting on it and finally I got so annoyed with all the Twilight talk I commented back and suggested buffy as a very good vampire story. She replied back she heard it was gay. Lucky we were talking over Facebook or there's no telling what I would have done, but since that I haven't wanted to see the movies or read the books. Anyone suggest differently? Or do you guys think I'd just get bored?

The film is fun, the books are fun. It's not rocket science or recreating the mythos, but a good series.
