Podcast # 222 - "Nemesis"

Like I said on the podcast, it's fine for anyone to like or not like this movie or any movie. I just wanted to help clear up a few things you mentioned Tim. Movies are a very subjective thing. Some like certain films and others don't. No biggie.

You're not alone, brother Tim! Final Frontier was the exact opposite from Nemesis: too goofy. My feeling about Nemesis are very similar to yours, it just was very moody. I never bought into Shinzon being a clone of Picard, they were so different in terms of their physicality and mannerisms and I was actually confused by it at first. The Reman's also contributed to the darkness of the film, they were like vampires. Even Data's death kind of fell flat for me and the B4 copy didn't interest me.

I can agree with some of that. I think that the problem is that they tried to put the TNG crew into the aftermath of the DS9 Federation. When DS9 showed the grittiness of the Federation, it took some of the shine off it. They tried to put the Enterprise in that world and it just didn't work.

I also never understood the comparison to TWOK. I suppose the story line is similar but the films couldn't be more different.

I never understood that.. I saw Nemesis on opening night with other Star Trek fans and after we went out to dinner and several of them just panned the film and kept saying it was a rip off of TWOK.. never understood it. I have made the choice not to see a "big" movie with a group of friends after that. I'm cool with having an opinion about a movie but I was on such a high after seeing another TNG Star Trek movie that they brought me crashing to the ground with all their negativity. So no more group outtings.. I'll be seeing this new Trek film with the hubby and that's it.

Just because people are negative about the movie shouldn't diminish your enjoyment! Tell them they are morons and have no taste! :)
...although I would have been one of them but I can take it! ;)

I'm just that kind of person..can't stand listening to people bash on movies or people or TV shows. I'm a very positive person so even if I didn't enjoy a movie I can find something that I liked and focus on that... that's just me. :)

Boy - some of you really should have sent in some audio for the podcast. Spent like 3-4 minutes sending me your thoughts. I got Rick, Mike and mine on the podcast for this week. I had no idea Nemesis had such a variety of opinions. Next time - send me your thoughts! It makes for a much more interesting podcast. One of the reasons I try and announce what I will be discussing weeks in advance. Plenty of time to record a comment or two and send them to me.

I almost did that Saturday night.. I have been just way to crazed te past month do send in comments to other stuff but I sat down to record something for you and I just couldn't figure out what to say in 2 to 3 mintues. It's hard to convey what I felt in that short of time.. so I gave up.. sorry.

I am still in the throws of the cold that Rick gave me over the internet during the last Skype Call. Once I get a voice back, I'm going to try to send audio to future podcasts even though I don't like my own voice.
