Well, two things come immediately to mind but I would have to watch the trailer again to tell more.

1. Tony Starks as a superstar pop figure. In the first film he was that way before his encounter with the terrorists. I guess that event didn't change his personality.

2. Another enemy who just happens to make a device similar to his and so consequently he battles his own technology again.

Kevin

I agree with #2.  I am not happy they decided to use the badguy from the first movie and "remake" him.  Kinda lame, but I'll still go to see the movie.

To address your questions:

1) If you are rich and famous and reveal that you are also wearing power armor, wouldn't it be more of a stretch if the media wasn't interested in your story?

2) While it does seem that the bad guy might use the same power source for their technology, the whips are not something that we've seen in the Stark Arsenal. That being said, it was also stated that the power source is a really impressive bit of technology. Wouldn't others try to replicate the construction and use it in their own devices? Sort of like they did with the Hemi and the V8? Or even the nukes? When someone creates world changing technology, there is always someone else out there trying to copy it.

While I grant you that there are some simularities, the ones that you mentioned are superficial at best. He's true to the character that he was in the last movie and part of the plot involves tech that people would have been after.

Being that this is a sequel, I'd want him to be the same guy that I liked in the first movie. If he's going to change, I'd like to see that one screen.

Nice to see Mickey Rourke in another film. Both he and Downey Jr. overcame their personal troubles and made comebacks- good for them.
Curious. Warmachine on the movie poster with Iron Man but nothing in the trailer. Has anyone seen any footage of the Warmachine armor in action?

Recheck the latest trailer in this thread.  It has warmachine for like 3-5 seconds near the end.

Looks really neat I might add.

New trailer is out... this keeps looking better and better.

Iron Man 2

Rico

Even without the sound (watching over lunch at work) it looks awesome!

KingIsaacLinksr

Hmm, so he's making Iron Man portable?  That's pretty cool.  Although you'd have to or suffer from being killable.  :)

SWEET video, can't wait for it to come out.  I'm shocked I still don't have the first on Blue-Ray.

He has a PORTABLE suit of armor!!??  I want one :)

Darkmolerman

SO who is the fancy guy with the suit and plane? I was wondering how tony was going to survive the drag race thing. But a portable Iron man suit? I did not see that coming.
