Just a running list of most of the Podcasts on the net. Each month they tally the votes for all the shows, which is why each month you have to vote again. The idea is a show with more votes might attract a bit more interest to those selecting a new Podcast to listen to.

i usually look at how popular it says the cast is on itunes.

Ya, but Podcast Alley is the biggy for rating podcasts nowadays.
