Ripley: Ash. Any suggestions from you or Mother?
Ash: No, we're still collating.
Ripley: [Laughing in disbelief] You're what? You're still collating? I find that hard to believe.

After Vartok review "I am Spock" on one of the podcast I pick it up for 50p(dollar's worth 50p I think),It's pretty entertaining no digging the dirt on fellow works(shame)the bit where he has conversations with self as Spock are strange and not sure if it was need(usual the voice in my head tell you to burn things) but overall good read.
"The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step, and a lot of bitching."

Reading some H.P. Lovecraft for the first time.  Highlights so far have been:

The Temple
The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath
The Outsider
The Call of Cthulhu

I was back at my parents house and found my three volume set of Star Trek: The Classic Episodes that came out for the 25th anniversary of Trek. It's three volumes of TOS scripts adapted into short stories. I figured I'd give them another go since I'm sure the last time I read there was in 1990. Very entertaining. No longer in print but you can sure still get our hands on them.

Ahh, Lovecraft.  Now, that guy had an imagination.  Good stuff!

Started reading "Crusade, What The Hell Happened" volume 1
by J. Michael Straczynski

Not all canceled TV shows enjoy a renaissance like Firefly, but talk about your obscure sci-fi series!
It's been ten years since the premiere of Crusade on TNT. Seen by few and hardly remembered by any.
As recalled In this excerpt by the author J Michael Straczynski
" The situations and circumstances surrounding the birth, short life and, long painful death of Crusade were among the most surreal, the most nightmarish and most unbelievable I have ever experienced in over twenty years of involvement in film and television."

So far this book is very interesting. By page 39, STNG, Lost in Space and the ill faited SeaQuest DSV are examined and thrown into the mix with short sighted studio executives expectations for ratings.

Good reading for any fan of sci-fi who is curious about what's backstage.
401 pages.

Not sure if this has been posted already but just bought Star Trek Technical manual from book store local to me. Now know how and why the ships is designed as it is........
In life all you need to be happy is a roof over your head, a bottle of wine and a good episode of Star Trek....everything else is a bonus.

I enjoyed "Crusade" and was sorry when it got cut short.  I'll have to check that book out sometime.

Started reading yet another Peter F. Hamilton sci fi novel, Fallen Dragon. Going to be interesting to see how he handles military sci fi.

Philip Pullman. Catching up on what became The Golden Compass since my daughter's reading it. She needs to read faster. I'm nearly ready for the next in the series.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

"Little Girl Blue: The Life of Karen Carpenter".
Randy L. Schmidt (Author), Dionne Warwick (Foreword)

Similair to the Authorized Biography by the Carpenter family titled "The Carpenters: The untold Story" that came out in 1995

I'm four chapters in and would say Little Girl Blue offers more insight to the development of the group and their music than the previous book.
Candid interviews from friends and associates who finally have a chance to be heard.

Good Read! :)

Finally got hold of the second in the series. I'm quite enjoying it too (read the first half yesterday).

My daughter is now reading my copy of Deathly Hallows prior to (possibly) seeing the movie.

Is it wrong that I'm now swapping books with a 10 year old? ;)

I really enjoyed "The Golden Compass" books.  Wish the movie had done better.

In addition to the Hamilton book, I'm listening to Freedom(tm) by Daniel Suarez.

It and the first book in the series, Daemon are two of the most compelling books I've read/listened to in a long time.

Here's a link to the first book: http://www.audible.com/pd/ref=sr_1_1?asin=B002V5B9SO&qid=1290433685&sr=1-1

I'm reading The Force Unleashed II novelization. It's really good!
