Just starting "a Storm of Swords" being the 3rd of 4 published books in George R.R. Martin's "a Song of Ice and Fire" series. Next I'll reread book 4 "a Feast for Crows" then wait for #5 "a Dance with Dragons" ... Looking forward to spending that wait reading Tad William's finale (which will be divided into 2 books) to the "Shadowmarch" series.

Somewhere in there I need to start working more on my own writing :) and perhaps a job.

I am read a few books but the only one that is SciFi kinda is Steven King's new book Under the Dome.
Ripley: Ash. Any suggestions from you or Mother?
Ash: No, we're still collating.
Ripley: [Laughing in disbelief] You're what? You're still collating? I find that hard to believe.

I'm currently working my way through the Conan Doyle Holmes stories. I'm ashamed to say I've never read them before even though I've meant to for years.

Over my holiday (vacation!) I worked my way through Matter by Iain M. Banks. Another excellent story from the Culture universe.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

I am seeking out and reading (or re-reading) the career of Robert Kirkman, comic book author.  He is or was the writer behind series such as Invincible, The Walking Dead, Marvel Zombies, Battle Pope, The Astounding Wolf Man, Haunt, Marvel Team Up (Volume 3), Tech Jacket, and Irredeemable Ant Man.  Good stuff, great writing, fun comics.

"A Fistful of Charms" by Kim Harrison (fun book and fourth in the series about Rachel Morgan - a witch)

Ktrek

Working through Star Trek 365 and really enjoying it. This is one of the best quality Star Trek coffee table books to come out in many a year! Cool photos and interesting tidbits of information. The book has a really good binding that's sewed together for durability and fine quality paper stock. Highly recommended!

Wow long time since I last posted. I have been reading the Twilight series. I am on the last book "Breaking Dawn" and I saw there is a novella about Bree Tanner. Most likely will read that. I am surprised I am still reading this series, kind of disapointed for several reasons. I dug out my copy of Bram Stoker's Dracula, and will read it so I can get rid of the bad taste of Meyer's vampires, pun intended.

I teach third grade so my reading selection may be a bit skewed, but I am reading Schooled.  Quick but enjoyable read about being yourself while changing others perception about what "normal" really is.
Trek gets better and better the more it is shared.

LOL Me too!

But in my non-internet spare time, I've found myself hopelessly hooked on David Weber's Honor Harrington books.  Thanks btw to Vartok, for bringing the series to my attention a few podcasts back.

These books are INCREDIBLE!  First of all, the characters are well-written and elicit a real emotional response- you can't help but pull for the protagonists and share their animosity towards the antagonists.  Honor is an amazing heroine: She's like the best parts of Kirk, Picard, and Sisko rolled into one, only much easier on the eyes. ;)

The ship-to-ship combat is freakin' cool. Weber uses a technological plot device that is plausible, and results in battle scenes that feel much more realistic than the physics-defying combat of many popular sci fi films and TV shows.

If you have an interest in military sci-fi, I strongly recommend you check out these books!!!

They talk about Honor Harrington very often on the Galactic (formerly Galactica) Watercooler podcast. I'll have to give them a look.

I'm currently reading Delivering Happiness by Tony Hseih. Tony is the CEO of Zappos.com. He talks about his experiences in dot coms and specifically about the unique corporate culture they've developed at Zappos. Easy read and a very interesting book.

Right now I'm making my way through Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Michio Kaku's Physics of the Impossible, and The Essential Feminist Reader. And this is the first time I'm reading Harry Potter too...  :blush
