They may do a cut down version of the movie for the first episode for TV just in case those who don't see in the movie in the theater aren't totally lost.

Are we sure about that at this time?  I had thought the theater movie is a lead in to the series.

Now that you mention it, I'm not quite sure.  I initially heard that the first 3 episodes would be released in theaters, then air on TV later.

From Reblescum.com-

"You all know about the Clone Wars animated Series coming out, right? Well it's hitting this September, and will kick off (in the UK at least) with a cinematic release of the first 3 episodes (note this was confirmed by a couple of Star Wars licensees other than Hasbro). The rest of the episodes will then come out on a yet undecided TV channel."

From what I've been reading lately, though, it seems as though the first 3 episodes might just air in theaters INSTEAD of airing on TV, making episode 4 the first TV episode (which is kind of ironic, I guess..  starting the series with episode IV)

That was really great, I am really looking forward to this movie, and the series as well.

x3. This will be the only airing of this. It's more like the first 3 episodes.

I've always heard it was for the theaters first.  It's a way to get people excited for the series and watch more when that starts up.  Certainly eventually it will air on TV like all movies do, but that will be down the road.  I think if they released it in theaters only to have it show up on TV in a couple of months they would kind of upset some people.  I actually really like this whole idea.  And the movie trailers look amazing!

Anyone think this will top Dark Knight ?

Nope.  Everyone I've spoken to is practically foaming at the mouth at how good Dark Knight is supposed to be, and very few of them are regular genre fans.  I think Clone Wars won't have the same wide audience appeal that Dark Knight enjoys.  Clone Wars has two things going against it:

-It's animated, and most mainstream movie goers in the U.S. seem biased against animated films (unless the Pixar label is attached).

-It's Star Wars, and most non Star Wars fans that I've spoken to seem burned out on the franchise.

Don't get me wrong; I'm looking forward to the film, and think I'll enjoy it.  I just don't see many non-geeks checking it out.

Continues to look awesome but it doesn't have the broad enough demographic to top Batman.

Well frak!  I even looked up in this thread too.  But I think I scrolled too fast.  Sorry about that.

Geekyfanboy

Really ?  See, that's what I think it has going for it - family appeal.  I can  see quite a few parents going with their young kids.  In some cases, kids will be dragging their dads/moms.  Who know's - maybe even Mrs Rico will see this one :D

The one bad thing is the date.  August movies tend to not do as well as July.  We'll see.  Originally, I was not too keen on the movie but after seeing previews - its going to rock.
