Alert! There's a new episode in the Anomaly feed: Interview with Marian Call. Sue and Kasey chat with Marian about her music and her thoughts on how women are treated in sci-fi/ fantasy and fandom (as part of our series). Marian's "Geek Anthem" is played, with permission, on every Anomaly Supplemental episode and has been featured as the theme for all our special interviews. I this interview "Good Morning Moon" is also played. This interview concludes our series on The Women of Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Fandom for this year. Marian was a great guest, hope you enjoy the interview. Please let us know what you think of the series and if you like what we do, consider supporting Anomaly through iTunes ratings, feedback, donations and purchases in the Anomaly Store. :) You can find all this and more at http://www.anomalypodcast.com.

Wow Anomaly over load and i'm loving it. Just listened to Sue talking to grammar girl, brilliant episode seriously have to check out her books.

Keep em coming Ladies.

Yeah, I've been enjoying this series since I listen to most of the other (podcasting) interviewees independently (probably at Jen's recommendation). It's a series of crossovers for me.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Yay!  Mignon's pretty awesome.  She actually real-life friends with my brother, and a group of us spent a lot of time together at Worldcon.  In fact, she's coming to NYC in a couple weeks (I think during a book tour?), and we're going to be able to hang out.

That is sooo cool Sue.  I love it!

We just uploaded another episode. It's Sue's Dragon*Con Wrap Up. http://www.anomalypodcast.com/shownotes/anomaly-supplemental-dragoncon-wrap-up/

On a different note, Libsyn, the company that hosts our podcast feed, offers a podcast app for Android and Apple iOS app market for inclusion in the free Podcast Box app. The minimum price we can offer our Android App and the app included in the iOS Podcast Box for is $1.99 and there is a 50% revenue split. This revenue split helps Libsyn maintain support for the app and allows us to make some money to pay for hosting and equipment.  What price do you think is fair? Would you pay more than $1.99 to stream our show? We're thinking of $2.99 or $3.99, but don't want to turn away our listeners.

And another was just added:  Anomaly Supplemental on Little Shop of Horrors

That's right - a horror musical with puppets.  Just in time for Halloween.   :)

Hi, I'm Jen and this Halloween, my son will be dressed as Captain Kirk...because they don't sell Captain Picard costumes for babies. Pfffft. And I am an Anomaly. In this Halloween edition of Anomaly, Jen and Angela are joined by their good friend Simon Meddings, from their "brother podcast" Waffle On. "Meds", as he's known to his friends, is a horror film aficionado so Jen and Angela allowed him to lead the conversation about this British Rom-Com-Horror film. This was a fun conversation that includes skit at the beginning of the episode. Simon wrote the skit, Jen mixed it (as well as the episode) and Jen, Angela and Meds star in the dramatic episode intro...which probably isn't kid friendly. It may be a little too scary. This episode is labeled explicit for that reason.

Zombies are no laughing matter, except when they are beaten off with flying LP's and cricket bats. "Shaun doesn't have a very good day, so he decides to turn his life around by getting his ex to take him back, but he times it for right in the middle of what may be a zombie apocalypse... But for him, it's an opportunity to show everyone he knows how useful he is by saving them all. All he has to do is survive... And get his ex back."- IMDB

If you haven't seen Shaun of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead or Dawn of the Dead, we suggest you watch these films before you listen to this podcast installment, for spoilers abound in this episode.

Anomaly Extra:  News From NYCC

This extra special Anomaly episode is full of news out of New York Comic Con.  From television, to documentaries, to short films, to graphic novels, to video games – there's a little bit of everything.  As I say in the episode introduction, this is by no means comprehensive coverage.  With just Anne and myself convering con, there was certainly no way that we could make it to everything, so there was plenty of stuff we did not get to.  Instead, you're stuck with report from the things that we found most interesting.  We're really excited about the news in this episode, and hope that you will be, as well.

Great job Sue. And WOW...your NYCC coverage may not be "comprehensive", but your show notes are! Well done on the notes AND the report. I also enjoyed Anne's coverage regarding ME3 and Dragon Age. Gamma Quadrant Golf Clap!

Well, there's a lot of info and a LOT of links in the actual show notes.  I figured the time stamps would be helpful.  :)

Who wants more Anomaly?  You got it!  :)

The following is a panel from New York Comic Con, titled "Screen Future: Gaming, Comics, and TV around the world and 5 years from now." Panelists are Brian David Johnson (Intel Futurist and author of "Screen Future"), Craig Engler (Senior Vice President and General Manager, Syfy Digital, Syfy), Cory Doctorow (sci-fi author and blogger on boingboing), and Jim Shooter (comic writer, editor, and publisher currently at Dark Horse Comics).

The panel discusses how the entertainment industry has changed and continues to evolve, focusing mostly on comics, television, and web media. They discuss the quality of television versus web series, integration of social media, interactive storytelling, how advertisers work, and so on. And, of course, they share their hopes for the future. Questions from the audience cover topics such as accessibility of content, the usefulness of Nielsen ratings, and net neutrality.

I was a little bit late into the panel room – forgive me – so we join the conversation while the panelists are talking about advertising revenue on web media versus television.

Please note:  This episode carries an "explicit" tag due to a handful of instances where a panelist uses profanity for emphasis.

The final installment of our NYCC coverage:  An Interview with Ashley Eckstein:  http://www.anomalypodcast.com/shownotes/anomaly-interview-ashley-eckstein/

Hi, I'm Sue. I shook hands with a World Series MVP and hugged a Star Wars actress within 20 minutes, and I am an Anomaly. I was fortunate enough to have the chance to chat with Ashley Eckstein on the show floor at New York Comic Con (so it's loud). I also got to chat with her husband, 2006 World Series MVP David Eckstein, about the MLB playoffs – but that's not part of this podcast.

Ashley is the voice of Ahsoka Tano on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the creator of Her Universe, a science-fiction inspired merchandise line (apparel, accessories, and cosmetics) exclusively for women, currently partnered with Lucasfilm and Syfy. Ashley grew up as a Disney kid and a Star Wars fan, has been designing clothes since she was 10, and has a massive Alice in Wonderland collection.

We talked about growing up geek, and even being a geek girl as an adult, and the persisting stereotypes that we face. On lighter notes, we also digressed a little bit into sharing stories of trips to Walt Disney World. Ashley also shared the story of her audition process for Ahsoka and hinted at another partnership for Her Universe that she couldn't quite discuss yet, and some upcoming Her Universe branded merchandise.

Good stuff. Sounds like you might have asked her some different question then what is normally asked of her on the Star Wars focused podcasts, so looking forward to listening to this interview.
