RPG Profanity

This hasn't really been a problem yet but Kenny and I just touched on cursing in the RPG, on the Ready Room episode 8 which we just recorded. We discussed the fact that we all follow the Gene Roddenberry code of ethics within the RPG (and on the rest of the board). But in the RPG, the banning of profanity is enforced, not only to keep it clean for the children who patrol our RPG and for sensitive eyes (rather than ears), but because if it wasn't said on Star Trek, it isn't written here. Reading them takes us out of the Star Trek Universe and since we're all role playing when we write, we obviously want to be in that world and experience it as it exists in TV shows... not in the real world. If you must use them you can use words that are said in the shows ... You can also use alternatives like Klingon or Romulan... or whatever alien language uses them.

Once more, curb the profanity. No matter how benign you think they may be, some of the words used in the real world are not used in Star Trek and in addition to making our RPG less kid friendly these words take some of us out of the story. Please use alien lingo or if you must, please only use the words the television shows use. Again, we're trying to keep to Roddenberry's standards. We will edit your posts without hesitation if you use something other than what is accepted. If you have to have a list of words you can't use, PM me and I will send them to you. FYI, this is stated in the RPG rules section as well.

Please feel free to edit any post that you or Kenny feels uses language that is not appropriate.  Of course, hopefully if anyone does do this they can take it upon themselves to edit their own posts.  Let me know if you need any help on this.
