Hey,

I was wondering what everybody collects these days that is TV / Sci-Fi / Movies / Trading cards / Comic Book related?

I have been off the collecting scene for a long while (pre-internet!   :o) so I was trying to gauge what people were into these days and where they get it from.

Do you buy online? In stores? New only or used items?

I'm especially interested where UK people who collect get their stuff these days. From a UK supplier or import?

I'm VERY tempted to get back into this (especially since being on TrekSF) so any advice or ideas where to look would be great!

Does debt count?

Hey I'm into that too! What a small world!  :roflmao

Jen

I have a small collection of Star Wars Bobble Heads...Dave thinks I bought them to collect dust. :D  I'll have to post a photo of my collection. I keep it on a shelf at work, the kids that come in (Men and boys) both love them. :)

Star Wars EU novels for me. They're still in boxes from the move, I need to buy myself some book cases.

How about an audio book review sometime Joe?  More Star Wars chat would be fun.

Sure, I have a bit of catching up to do, I was thinking of reading Millennium Falcon or Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor next.

I have really scaled back my collecting to Star Wars Astromechs, Block Figures and some higher end pieces( such as props replicas, statues, busts and 12 inch figures) I like from time to time. A lot of stuff I buy online as can't really find them in traditional stores, and the Smaller Comic and Collectible stores where I live are usually very expensive.
Depends on the Item, but usually new, but if something is no longer produced, then I will buy it used, if it is from a collector, it is usually in very good shape.
I found scaling back, and just focussing on a few things to more enjoyable then trying to keep up with everything. When I first started out, I was collecting a lot of Star Wars action figures, and buying everyone I could find. But I could never find all of them, and I would buy figures I did not really like also. With Star Wars, it is a never ending cycle with the figures, and I grew away from it. I will buy the odd figure if I like it, and the Astromechs these days.

Thanks Jeff, as I thought it looks like online is the place to go.

Yeah about six or so years ago I use to go from Target to Walmart to Toys R Us and hit about 10 stores in one day. But now that most of the things I buy are not sold in "normal" stores and online seemed to be the best way to go. I buy 99% of the items I collect online as they are normally cheaper and shipping was normally cheaper then spending gas driving around town.

I totally agree with you Kenny. I haven't bought many things aside from clothes and groceries in an actual brick and mortar store in awhile. Last Friday I decided I wanted Fallout 3 for the 360. Usually I order my games from Amazon but I really wanted it immediately.

I drove to Best Buy. Not in stock.

Wal Mart. Not in stock.

Finally I went to an EB Games and they had 2 new copies and 2 used copies. I picked up a used one and went home. Total round trip time, around 1.5 hours. Is it worth it?
