Hey Guys, Just got back from a screening of Wanted... first let me say it's a very cool movie and had some awesome awesome SFX and action scenes. It's a very adult film and not for those with weak hearts. I haven't seen that much violence and blood and heads getting blown off in a long time. It also has a lot of bad language. It won't be for everyone but both Harry and I really enjoyed the wild ride.

Now for an offical non-spoiler review:

This movie was fantastic. It was the Matrix if they had stuck to the perceived promise of fantastic gun battles and action. It has everything that you look for when you are looking for a good summer action movie, but it delivers it better than you could imagine.

The acting was great. Every promise suggested in the movie was delivered by the end credits.

As my wife left the movie, she declared it to be her new favorite movie. She quickly put it with her other favorites like Blade Runner, The Matrix, and Strange Days. She needs her weekly action movie and has decided that this is the movie that she wants to watch week after week.

I saw this today, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised in that I quite enjoyed it. I liked the whole story around him being just another guy doing an office job, and beaten down by corporate America angle, as it resonated a bit with me. The actions sequences were pretty good. I did find the ending a bit predictable, but it seems that way with a lot of movies of this genre, so I am not going to fault it for that. I agree with the others, this is a very adult movie, so certainly not one to go to if excessive violence or foul language is not your thing. To be honest, I found that bit refreshing, to watch a movie that did not have to be toned down. I certainly do not want this for every movie, but the odd movie here and there is fine.
One thing that I saw, that I have never experienced before, was before the movie, they showed a trailer for a Will Farrell movie coming out, and it was the first time I had ever heard swearing in a movie trailer.

I agree with you guys, the movie was great.  The actors were well suited to their roles and I was glad they spent some time getting to know Wesley before he became an ace assassin.  I thought the movie had some interesting twists and turns and it kept me guessing.  There is a pretty big surprise that I didn't see coming in the movie.  And that was refreshing.  And just for the action part alone this movie really delivers.  Go see it if you like this kind of thing - and maybe even if you don't.

P.S.  I'm going to start reading the comic series tonight.  I know they changed quite a bit and I want to see what they pulled out and what they kept in.

I look forward to hearing how the film compares to the comic.  Mark Millar is a talented and creative writer, but much of his material is pretty raw...  If the film were an exact representation of the comic, I imagine it would be rated NC-17.

Thanks for the reviews everyone; I definitely have to check the film out!  ;D

Slight comic spoilers below...

Well, I'm about half way through the comic series.  It has some things just like the movie but they changed a few pretty major things.  The biggest is the Fraternity group is really a bunch of bad guys or super villains.  And Wesley joins them to take out superheroes.  I can see why they didn't go this way.  But it's an interesting story still.  Probably finish it up tonight.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I read one review that said the movie was faithful to the book for the first ten minutes.  Eliminating the whole supervillain angle is a major departure.

Not that these differences are a bad thing, while reading the book I was thinking that it wouldn't work well as a movie.
