Rick could you let me know what you do to get the podcast on your site after you've recorded it. that would be helpful because i'm in the making of a site, and I wanted to make a podcast. Thanks a lot

1. Record it
2 FTP it to some web hosting account (make sure lots of bandwith and space)
3. Add the link and description to RSS feed.

Spock pretty much said it.  I use an FTP program to upload it called WS_FTP.  Pretty simple to use to upload stuff.  I use a program called Feed for All to create/update the .xml feed file that lists all the details of the shows, etc.  This is the file that iTunes and other programs like iPodder use to "catch" the new shows.  Hope this helps.  Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

Well, now that I've realised that skype is free (and the perfect way to record a free podcast), I was wondering, Rick or anyone else who does a podcast, what are the exact programs and steps you take to getting your podcast on the site. Also if there are any programs you pay for, are there any alternative programs that are free.

Risky,
I use Audacity (free program) to record the main show.  Then I edit it in that program, and musics, effects, etc. and save it in .mp3 format.  Then I upload it to my website (which I do pay for).  Good service and not too expensive.  I use WS_FTP to upload it but there are many FTP programs to do that with.  You need to create a feed for the show if you want it to auto download for folks like via iTunes.  I use a program called Feed for all for that part.  The rest is just Podcast Notes (I use Word Press now for that).  It sounds like a lot, but it's not too bad.  It can be almost free if you find a free web host.  Libsyn (I think that is the name) is a service many use to host their shows.  You might want to look into that one.  Good luck!   :)

K, I think I gotit. I downloaded Audacity. I am going to export what I record and edit as an MP3, and FTP it to my website. Then I am going to need to buy a program to create the RSS feed. I have ben looking around for the best, cheapest one, and I think the least expensive one with the best capability is Podcast Buddy (http://www.christolley.com/). Then I am going to go to iTunes and add my podcast to their browse thingy. Thanks for the help, and if I am doing anything wrong, please let me know.

Rick, I have eberything working, except for the album art. My podcast picture shows up fine on the subscribe page, but it doesn't show it in album art. I was wondering if you, or anyone, knows why.

The way I get it to work is load my Podcast into my iTunes (just add the file) and add the artwork to the audio file there.  That will tag the file and update it so the art should show for your individual Podcasts.  After you have it tagged, use that file to upload to the host.
