Thanks for the link, man. :)

There's one Christmas song that I've heard on pop stations every year that I like, but can't remember the name of.  I think it came out in the late 80's, and it sounds like it is sung by a member of the Bangles or something (it has a kind of 80's pop sound to it).  The chorus goes something like "Merry Christmas; Merry Christmas; something something something da da daa."

I know that's not a lot to go on, but can someone help me figure out what the song is called?  :ohwell

That's an old favorite of mine. It's called "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses.

"Bah, humbug!" No, that's too strong
'Cause it is my favorite holiday
But all this year's been a busy blur
Don't think I have the energy

To add to my already mad rush
Just 'cause it's 'tis the season.
The perfect gift for me would be
Completions and connections left from

Last year, ski shop,
Encounter, most interesting.
Had his number but never the time
Most of '81 passed along those lines.

So deck those halls, trim those trees
Raise up cups of Christmas cheer,
I just need to catch my breath,
Christmas by myself this year.

Calendar picture, frozen landscape,
Chilled this room for twenty-four days,
Evergreens, sparkling snow
Get this winter over with!

Flashback to springtime, saw him again,
Would've been good to go for lunch,
Couldn't agree when we were both free,
We tried, we said we'd keep in touch.

Didn't, of course, 'til summertime,
Out to the beach to his boat could I join him?
No, this time it was me,
Sunburn in the third degree.

Now the calendar's just one page
And, of course, I am excited
Tonight's the night, but I've set my mind
Not to do too much about it.

Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
But I think I'll miss this one this year.
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
But I think I'll miss this one this year.
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
But I think I'll miss this one this year.
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
But I think I'll miss this one this year.

Hardly dashing through the snow
Cause I bundled up too tight
Last minute have-to-do's
A few cards a few calls
'Cause it's r-s-v-p
No thanks, no party lights
It's Christmas Eve, gonna relax
Turned down all of my invites.

Last fall I had a night to myself,
Same guy called, halloween party,
Waited all night for him to show,
This time his car wouldn't go,

Forget it, it's cold, it's getting late,
Trudge on home to celebrate
In a quiet way, unwind
Doing Christmas right this time.

A&P has provided me
With the world's smallest turkey
Already in the oven, nice and hot
Oh damn! Guess what I forgot?

So on with the boots, back out in the snow
To the only all-night grocery,
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
In the line is that guy I've been chasing all year!

"I'm spending this one alone," he said.
"Need a break; this year's been crazy."
I said, "Me too, but why are you?
You mean you forgot cranberries too?"

Then suddenly we laughed and laughed
Caught on to what was happening
That Christmas magic's brought this tale
To a very happy ending! "

Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
Couldn't miss this one this year!
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
Couldn't miss this one this year!

Man; I can't believe that you were able to identify the song from so little information- very impressive!

Thanks for the help. :)

Yeah; it's always cool to mix traditional Christmas music with more contemporary stuff.

Have to visit the store to check on CD's for my collection.   Also have to hook up the iPod to the stereo next week.

I like the traditional Christmas carols but I do like the funny classics too.
Rusty Chevrolet is one of my favs from when I was a kid.
Unfortunately, we owned this car:

Dashing through the snow,
in my rusty Chevrolet.
Down the road I go,
sliding all the way.
I need new piston rings.
I need some new snow tires.
My car is held together by a piece of bailing wire!

Oh, rust and smoke,
the heater's broke,
the door just blew away.
I light a match,
to see the dash,
and then I start to pray-ay.
The frame is bent,
the muffler went,
the radio it's okay.
Oh, what fun it is to drive this rusty Chevrolet!

I went to IGA,
to get some Christmas cheer.
I just passed up my left front tire
and it's gettin' hard to steer.
Speeding down the highway,
right past the county cops.
I have to drag my swampers just to get the car to stop.

Oh, rust and smoke,
the heater's broke,
the door just blew away.
I light a match,
to see the dash,
and then I start to pray-ay.
The frame is bent,
the muffler went,
the radio's okay.
Oh, what fun it is to drive this rusty Chevrolet!

Bouncing through the snowdrifts,
in a big, blue cloud of smoke.
People laugh as I drive by;
I wonder what's the joke!
I have to get to Wal-Mart,
to pick up my layaway,
Cause Santa's comin' soon in his big, old, rusty sleigh!

Oh, rust and smoke,
the heater's broke,
the door just blew away.
I light a match,
to see the dash,
and then I start to pray-ay.
The frame is bent,
the muffler went,
the radio's okay.
Oh, what fun it is to drive this rusttttttttty Chevroooooooleeeeeet!

Snoopy and the Red Baron -- haven't heard that one in a LONG time.

Sorry but even though I am a Christian I really can't get into the overblown Christmas thing. The music that goes along with the season just doesn't sit well with me. Work in retail for ten years and it might not with you either. I especially hate the Mannheim Steamroller crap! It has to be the worst! I'll just stick with my Classical, Jazz and Broadway stuff! Thank you very much!

I too enjoy Christmas music very much!

I like all kinds too.

I have written several Christmas songs.   here is one you might enjoy, ok two..

This song was for a musical I wrote.  It is sung by Mary after she had been told there was no room in the Inn.  I wanted something that conveyed the emotion of the moment, and it had to be sung by a lady that could handle all of the notes.  I wrote it on a piano and had a cold at the time.  I went ahead and put it on a cd and then gave it to our music director, who promptly changed the key and recorded herself to give out to the cast.  She gave me a copy of the song I had written and asked me to listen.  I popped it into my cd player on the way home from work and ended up pulling over cause it made me cry.  There is something about hearing someone very talented sing your music.   Her name is Melina Backholm, and she is very good at singing. Here it is.  Please let me know what you think.

The second song is not a serious one. It's a parody I wrote from one of my goofy poems. It came out of the whole controversy of Walmart not using the words Merry Christmas a couple of years ago, so I wrote a song called Stock the Shelves, forget the elves.  It's to the tune of Silver bells.  Enjoy.  It is fun.

Wow, what  beautiful song. You are very talented Mr. Moyer.  I'd love to download that one, if it's possible.

I really like your Wal-Mart song too. My mother has worked for Wal-mart for sixteen years. She's worked her way up from a cashier to a manager over the cashiers to a photo lab manager (she's also a photographer on the side) and now she's a manager over the eye center. This year will be the first in 16 that she gets off on Thanksgiving and Christmas eve. Wal-Mart provides opportunity for their employees while at the same time working them into the ground, so I can understand why many of them are crabby... though my mom isn't one of them. :)

She'll love your Wal-Mart song. Though she works there, she hates shopping at Wal-Mart. Aside from everyone stopping her to ask where things are, the crowds are annoying and the corporate shadow repels her.

If you are using a PC, right click and save as target.. and you have your mp3.  If you have a mac?  I can send it to you via email if you want, the file isn't that big. Let me know.

Feel free to download all you want!

Yeah, the Walmart song brought a lot of people to laughter.  We could all relate!
