OK; anyone see tonight's premier? Thoughts?

I'm thinking the show shows a lot of promise!  In just an hour, Whedon has set the stage for an extremely intriguing idea, and has created a group of riveting characters.  The leads, the supporting cast, and even the ones who would best be described as A-holes are all surprisingly well painted-- I'm looking forward to seeing how their stories develop.

And the biggest surprise of all:  Fox just might have chosen a good time to air this show.  By pairing it up with Terminator, and setting these two shows up as a lead-in to BSG, the network just might tap into the sci-fi fans already set to watch TV on Friday night.

I hope the show does well. :)

By the way,
Eliza Dushku's reaction to seeing her "kidnapper" felt frighteningly realistic.
She's a better actor than I thought.

(Yay!  I got to use the spoiler button!  ;D )

I liked it too.  Eliza I thought was very good - very convincing.  I thought it was a good intro to the series.  I have just one tiny, tiny little thing bugging me.  The big WHY of it all.  WHY do what they do?  It's seems rather than program someone to be what you want, why not just get someone with those skills?  I guess I could come up with a reason, but I'd like to hear more about the WHY of doing what they do.  It's not a huge thing for me, just hope they explore that a bit.

I really enjoyed tonight's premiere. I've always believed in Eliza's acting ability--especially after seeing the episodes "Five by Five" and "Sanctuary" from Angel--and I think this show is going to be good for her. And Joss Whedon is just the master at what he does. The script was fantastic and his direction is very clean and gritty at the same time.
I totally cheered when it was discovered that Echo was still in her negotiator mode. I think my entire building might have heard me...  :D
I think it's more cost effective to make what you need instead of keeping an infinite number of people on retainer for a certain role.

Ok, I just got done watching it.  I liked it.  Great idea, intriguing concept.

At first though, I was thinking... oh oh.  When the papers were being signed.. I thought, here we go with like the Viper premise, or all sorts of others.. the folks who have a checkered past sign up to be the new heroes by volunteering to be guinea pigs.  But I digress.

I liked the show because it kept me interested and now I want to know more.  It will be very interesting to see what they do with the show from week to week.

Really??  Why not just hire who you need when you need them?  The big reason I can see is the jobs they do might be something the clients don't want them to remember later.  But of course, the company that runs the Dollhouse knows all about it.  I'm sure we will learn more as time goes on.

My guess is since it's an illegal operation, maybe some of their clients have some shady dealings and don't necessarily want the authorities involved. Or it would be too risky to have the police involved in cases such as last night's episode. I honestly don't know, but that's the best guess I have, especially since the "assassin" plot line has been brought up time and time again in interviews with Whedon and Dushku.

I think that Helo said it best, when you think you have everything, you want something else. From what they seem to be capable if, they are creating the perfect person for your specific needs. While you could get any lawyer or negotiator, having the perfect one made to fit the specifics of your needs would be a good investment in my opinion.

I would rather have the perfect [insert] than someone that has a good deal of [insert] skill.

maybe you are lonely and need the idea companion for an evening. Someone that can challenge you mentally, but you don't have the time to pour though the dating scene or screen people looking to get your cash?

ElfManDan

I enjoyed the pilot, but more then that I'm excited to see where Joss takes the show. It's a very interesting concept and I know I'll keep on watching.

Dangelus

Watch it last night.

I'm liking it so far. Eliza does a splendid job.

I am interested in finding out more about how they get / store these personalities too. There is a wealth of storytelling that can come from the concept.

I enjoyed the show. Honestly I really feel bad when Echo gets wiped, gets up and looks at the camera with that blank expression. I have a feeling that a big plot point in this show will be flashbacks and the techie guy feeling bad after awhile, he seems to have a thing for the pretty girls.

I think you're right.  I also wonder if there is a connection between Helo (I can't remember his real name) and Echo.  Is she the reason he's obsessing over the Dollhouse case?

Just watched last night's episode of Dollhouse. WOW! That's all I can say. It was pretty awesome. ;D

Saw the new episode and loved  it. No complaints.

Joss Whedon has still got it. :)  Great writing, cool characters, and the overall story has a lot of potential.  I think this show might be able to break the Fox curse!
