Very cool news.  Just in time for my new HD setup....

Paramount Home Entertainment announced today that "Transformers" will see a U.S. shore release for both standard-definition DVD and HD-DVD on October 16, 2007.

It was announced last month that "Transformers" would exclusively be released on HD-DVD, leaving Blu-Ray users without their own version.

The special edition standard definition and HD-DVD version will see a two-disc set populated by more options than you can shake a stick at.

Standard-def will have commentary by Director Michael Bay and two multi-part in-depth documentaries exploring the human elements of the film as well as the phenomenal robot stars.

The HD-DVD will have a TRANSFORMERS H.U.D. (Heads Up Display) that lets viewers access running text commentary while watching the film and even view relevant behind-the-scenes footage in a picture-in-picture window. Additionally, viewers can explore the main robots’ individual details in high definition with the TRANSFORMERS Tech Inspector.

SWEET....Already?!?!  I kinda hope this is the trend with most movies anymore, a less than 6 month turnaround for DVD'd....hopefully less than that.  I guess when I think about it, 6 months is about normal but it just seems short cuz we are still hearing about the movie.
I think it was Socrates who spoke the immortal words:  I drank WHAT?

Just saw the commercial but I think I will wait.  I'm sure there will be an extended/special edition/added features/behind the scenes/alternate ending/favorite recipes from the cast dvd coming out by christmas   ::)

I can't wait to get any version, though I'll probably go for the Special Edition.  I always like those better.  Transformers FTW!!

So the "Transformers" movie is out today on both DVD and HD-DVD. I'll be picking up the HD-DVD 2 disc set. Can't wait to see this movie on my new HDTV. It's really going to look amazing in 1080p! Anyone else picking it up this week?

markinro

Enjoy.  Think I will just rent this one.  Still want to checkout IMAX ?

Rico

Yes.  Just have to find a good day and time.

I finally watched Transformers this weekend and didn't know what to expect having read many reviews both good and bad. I loved it, really enjoyed the comedy sides and just the whole fun of it. You have to take this film as it's meant, robots fighting. It's not supposed to be Schindlers list. I did have to watch it on my laptop so couldn't enjoy on a big screen, but when it comes out over here on DVD, rest assured I will purchase it to watch on my larger TV

I rented this film and although I enjoyed it, for the most part, I would not buy it. But as far as popcorn movies go it certainly is one of the better ones. There were some scenes I felt the movie could have done without and not compromised the integrity of the film. In one scene in particular, and most everyone who has seen the film will know what I'm talking about, there is some sexual humor that was really unnecessary. If I was a teenage boy taking my girfriend to this film I would have been VERY uncomfortable. The subject should not be displayed so blatantly and openly. As a result of that one scene I can not in all good conscience recommend this film to my friends with kids. I think it's inappropriate. Although I think in general it is a fun kids movie and especially for folks who watched the Transformers cartoons growing up. The SFX were amazing in the film and I don't think even Godzilla had as good a time as the autobots destroying whole cities.

Yeah, that was the only drawback on the film for me.  I have to be careful what I reccomend, but the nice part is at least on DVD I can just fast forward.  I love that!

We are going to watch it tonight.

Popcorn, a rainy night, my family and a good movie.  Who could ask for anything more?

:)

I have been and always will be, your friend.

I guess I'll have to watch the movie again I don't know what sexual scene you are talking about. I just remember the fun I had watching it.
