Ripley: Ash. Any suggestions from you or Mother?
Ash: No, we're still collating.
Ripley: [Laughing in disbelief] You're what? You're still collating? I find that hard to believe.

Gosh these are tough!  Let me see.....

1)  2001
2)  Forbidden Planet
3)  Alien/Aliens
4)  The Matrix
5)  Blade Runner

---  Almost listed the first Superman movie but I think that's more a fantasy tale.  I'm sure I'm forgetting an important one.

This was tough as well, so many Sci-Fi movies I have loved. Minus All the Star Wars and Star Trek movies of course.

1. The Terminator
2. Starship Troopers
3. Pitch Black
4. Tron
5. Titan AE ( A cartoon, but thought it was a great movie regardless)

Wow.. another tough one. It's hard to decide what's Sci fi and what's Fantasy.

Of course Star Wars and Star Trek are top...

1. Serenity
2. Galaxy Quest
3. The Last Starfighter
4. Tron
5. Starship Troopers

I would have to contend the entries for Star Wars being sci-fi as technically they are FANTASY films set in a space setting. There is little to nothing of science within the films at all. That said my favorite sci-fi movies are:

1. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
2. Frankenstein (1931)
3. Metropolis (1927)
4. The Day The Earth Stood Still (1951)
5. When Worlds Collide (1951)

"Oh...Well, Who am I to argue with me?" Dr. Bashir - Visionary - Deep Space Nine

Ceroth

1. The Empire Strikes Back
2. Aliens
3. Terminator
4. Star Wars
5. The Fifth Element

Darth Gaos

Trek and Star Wars aside (as I love almost all of them). Here are mine...again in no particular order:

Terminator
Starship Troopers
Tron
Alien(s)
The Matrix

I left Serenity off the list because I have always seen the show and subsequently, the movie as a Western set in space.  I love them but it never felt right to me to classify it as Sci-Fi.
