Also, this is Tate's only season AFAIK.

Yup the indications are very strong, eg something on Donna's back, The doctors song coming to an end and also River Songs obvious knowledge that something happens to Donna. Now will she die, yes i hope so and i don't mean that in a lets get rid of her a death in a series is always ground breaking. Its really only happened once in Dr Who TV lore and that was the death of Adric during the 5th Doctors season, oh and i guess K9 mark 1. For a new companion i would have to go for the excellent Sally Sparrow from last series episode Blink, or a male companion. Its about time the Doctor had a blokey bloke mate to go traveling with.

A death would be a departure of a sort but probably a better end to the character than getting dropped at Aberdeen airport or whatever. Donna didn't strike me as a character that would easily be persuaded to return to the comforts of home so if CT's only signed for a single season, they something more to explain the departure.

The format of the modern show is different to the original but it has a lot more 'edge' I think so death is not out of the question. (I grew up with Tom Baker's Doctor and 4 part stories).

Having just watched the newest two parter back to back, I also vote for 'wife' BTW.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

I volunteer to "retire" Miss Tate, can't stand her and her ending can't come soon enough

not that I feel strongly about this u understand
If you can remain calm when all around you are panicking, you probably didn't understand the question

It must be a British thing... do you guys not like the actress so that taints her performace as Donna for you. I didn't know about CT until Who and I think she is wonderful in this role.

I actually don't feel too strongly against her and if I'm being fair think that Donna is working out fairly well as a character.

Her prime role over here, however, is in comedy rather than in straight acting. She has her own show (The Catherine Tate Show I believe) which I don't watch and have no interest in. Her brand of comedy is simply not the same as mine and I guess that does colour the way I look at her role in DW.

I agree with you feathers. I think because we see her comedy characters like Lauren and the irritating gran character we see it in her performance as Donn. I don't like her comedy. I wish i'd never seen her as a comedienne because then i'd probably like her as Donna because the Donna character is good.

Episode 10
Midnight

Ok so this is a RTD written episode. Back to form Russell is my opinion. You have tension, you have excitement you have claustrophobia and most of all you have classic Who. Excellent casting especially the part of the professor who is played by David Troughton who's father is Patrick Troughton who played the second Doctor. RTD's writing is brilliant in this episode, you really do get annoyed by the people on the plane, my god you want them to die, how horrible is that but you do. The Doctor is really in trouble with these 'humans' . we see horror, we see despair and we see how terrible people can be when they are overawed with panic. A quick clip of Rose is seen and again we see how troubled the Doctor can be. The acting between Tennant and    Lesley Sharp who plays Sky Silvestry is amazing, having to speak the words at the same time is really hard but they pull it off.
This episode is near enough a play, you could see it in on stage as it is one set piece. Great show hope you all will enjoy it when you see it.

I've loving this one and the story more than makes up for the bad phone prop in the beginning.

I don't know, I kind of liked it all.

Great episode, for once something just as unexplained at the end as at the beginning with the Doctor (for once) not working everything out and saving the day.

Good stuff.

Oh, I agree with the play analagy BTW. That would work really well on stage - carrying it off on screen with a single set for near 40 minutes is quite an achievement.

The problem with the phone that Donna was holding and using as a cordless, had a place for the cord that had been removed from it to make it seem cordless.
