Episode 3.
Planet of the Ood.
From the start this episode gives you classic era Dr Who. A great Tardis landing and when you see the box standing in the snow you get the alien feel straight away. Again this is a spoiler free review so I'll give the basics. Great performance as usual from Tennant and Tate is getting better. What really made this episode for me is the fact you really understand that the Doctor lives in pain all his life. His telepathic abilities comes to light inthis episode. OK he mentioned last series that he see the universe, hears the pain of many beings and See's everything. Here you see the Doctor feel the pain of hearing the Ood song. And when he offers Donna the ability to also hear the song her reaction is brilliant. I enjoyed the fact that you didn't care about the humans that got killed because lets face it they deserved it, especially the young marketing girl, her betrayal to the doctor deserved death. Actor Tim Mckinnery was solid in the bad guy role and a nice surprise at what happens to him.  Trailer for next weeks episode really got me excited, why/ Martha's coming back along with those dome head villains from the early 70's The Sontarians

I agree, prob a second best out of the three so far. Next weeks has Martha back, can't wait.

Darth Gaos

Well, I have to watch on Sci-fi so I figure I am about a month behind most.  Voyage of the Damned was really cool but then again I am glad that the Doctor is back on TV.  Judging by previous posts I am most anxious for future episodes as the reviews so far have been really positive.

I loved Kylie Minogue in this last Christmas special and was disappointed at the end that she would not be back. Overall, a great episode and a fine addtion to the Christmas special "tradition".
I think it was Socrates who spoke the immortal words:  I drank WHAT?

Hmm i was a bit so-so regarding Voyage of the Damned. I enjoyed seeing Kylie and she acted well but ultimately it was a very Christmas Dr Who episode (offers a lot delivers little). Still any new Who is better than no Who.

I would have to say that Planet of the Ood was by far one of my favorites. Given their last introduction, I was thinking that they were be more evil devil worshiping lifeforms, I was happy to have been proven wrong. I loved pretty much the entire episode except for the falling scientist.

Just watched episode three Planet of the Ood.. this was a fun episode. I loved the Ood the first time we saw them back in season two and it was really cool seeing where they came from and how they were made. Great story and Donna continue to blow me away or I should say Catherine Tate. She is becoming the emotional core of the show. Can't wait for next week.. Ms. Jones is back... whoo hooo

Episode 4 SPOILER
The Sontaran Stratagem

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

OK this is a spoiler review.

Right, this and the Pompeii episode have been of the classic style Who. Donna attempting to fly the Tardis was fun, also a nod to yours truley as the hammer he uses to smack the Tardis control panel is i think a 954 black rubber mallet made by the company i work for (gush, gush). Anyway the Doctors mobile rings and who is on the end, that's right good old Martha Jones. And what a relief to have her back. The episode also throws us back to the 1970's in two big ways. One the return of UNIT, although i really would have like to have seen Lethbridge Stewart return in a small role. The second nod to classic who is of course the enemy. The Sontaran's. Brilliantly made up they looked fantastic. They really are nasty pieces of work, back in the old days they thought nothing of using humans for experimentation and it looks like nothing has changed. The Doctor looses Donna for a bit, so he gets a male companion, Ross a UNIT soldier and you know what i would like to see him return as a possible full time companion. Something happens to Martha but even though I've put a spoiler warning at the top I'm staying shtum. Its a two parter and i for one can't wait for next weeks episode. So for the cast, David Tennant as usual oozes joy at being the Doctor and i love to see that,  Catherine Tate was pretty good as Donna, some really nice acting from her, Bernard Cribbins was without doubt the star of the show, and Freema Agyeman once again brings in a spotless performance as Martha.

Darth Gaos

Again...a few weeks behind...sorry...but I really dug "Partners in Crime".  I think that the Doctor and Donna play off each other very well and look forward to their future adventures.  "I don't want TO mate! I want A mate"  That was great.

That said what was the deal with Rose?!?!?  Is this something that will get expanded on in the future (I hope)?  And while I am trying to say spoiler-free it sounds like Martha is going to make an appearance eventually which I am excited about. So far, Series 4 is shaping up to be a good one.

Episode 5: Poison Sky

Gotta say that this was a very solid episode. I love the blink and you miss it moment in the Tardis with Donna. I don't want to spoil anything, but each episode seems to be better than the last.

I can't wait for episode #6

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

Episode 6.
The Doctors Daughter.
In essence this is true because the actress playing the 'Doctors Daughter' is Georgia Moffett, the daughter of fifth doctor Peter Davison. This episode starts with the Tardis out of control. His severed hand bubbling away which is always a sign of something crazy. They land and exit the Tardis to see what is going on only to be captured by some soldiers. The Doctor is led to a generation unit and his arm is put inside for a DNA sample. this produces a soldier. hence this is the doctors daughter. The great thing is that she does end up having two hearts and we now see the Doctor as he truly is. He is a soldier and yes he is a criminal oh and at one point he is called an anomaly (one for you Jen) . Of course we knew this anyway from  early Doctor stories but not from the new series.

The Hath Part man, part fish, these colonists of the planet Messaline are an interesting species and it is once again good to see Martha taking a bigger role especially by joining them admittedly not by choice at the beginning but allies with them during the episode.  It is with usual Dr Who stories the ending is slightly rushed but it is great to see Tennant give an amazing performance when his daughter dies.  Of course she has the DNA of The Doctor so we already know she can't die and then have a guess what happens. Moffet plays Jenny like her fathers Doctor, in that I mean she plays her like the 5th Doctor. 'Always  running.'
Catherine Tate (get ready Kenny) does very well during this episode and really brings out the best of her character and that of the Doctor. I think the line.
The man who never would
Is so poignant because that is what the Doctor is all about. One little trivia fact. Towards the end before the stand off there is a little musical cue, this sound very much like music from one of the classic Who stories, I think the episode Castrovalva though that could be me thinking about the 5th Doctor.
All in all a great emotional episode that leaves the possibility of more time lords.
