Oh, man, you know I'm looking forward to season 4 because its WHO, but i just have this niggling feeling that I'm going to feel slightly disappointed. I have a serious problem with the Rose Tyler character, ok she was important for the introduction of the new series so we the viewer saw the world of the Doctor through her eyes but then it was just about her. The Doctor has had so many companions  over the past 600 years or so why on earth would he get all wimsy over Rose and not anyone else. The other thing about series 4 and I'm sure you have seen other people on other forums saying this is the Donna character. She irritated me in the Christmas episode and it looks like she hasn't changed one bit. Ok i can't be too judgmental until i see the episodes but i don't like Catherine Tate anyway so that's not a great start for me. Still i love Doctor Who and i will always be greatfull that the show is on so we'll have to wait and see. If we get episodes as good as Human Nature / Family of blood then I'll be a happy who fan.

I think that you have some points there but at the same time, there is always a first. Why wouldn't he fall in love with someone that for a brief moment, was looked upon by the Tardis and found worthy. Someone that could hold the power inside her that was the same power that killed on of his regenerations.

I think that it was in that moment that he found someone that, while not a timelord, could be someone that he loved because at some point he needs to get to the job of making more timelords.

I get what you mean , and i like your point. Mind you its been a while since our good Doctor got his rocks off so he may as well wait till he finds someone he loves. Am wondering if we will ever see anything of the Doctors daughter (where is the doctors wife then????) , bearing in mind the 10th doctor mentioned family and of course the Hartnell doctor had susan his grand daughter.

Fourth Who, New Sarah Due

SCI FI Channel has acquired the fourth season of Doctor Who and its hit spinoff series The Sarah Jane Adventures from BBC Worldwide America. Both series are slated to premiere on SCI FI in April.

The Sarah Jane Adventures is written and produced by the same creative team behind Doctor Who, including multiple-award-winning writer Russell T. Davies. The series centers on Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen), former companion to the Doctor, who investigates offbeat mysteries with her young friends Maria, Luke and Clyde.

The fourth season of Doctor Who, meanwhile, brings back star David Tennant as the 10th Timelord, joined by a new companion, Donna Noble (Catherine Tate), who reprises her role from the previous Christmas special. The Doctor's previous companion, Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman), also makes a triumphant return in the middle of season four.

Rumors are rife here in England regarding series 4, especially proposed final episodes called The Time War. i found some juicy information on this site http://www.sylvestermccoy.com/newdoctorwho/
Though it should be noted that the information here regarding series 4 have been collected from forums, people "in the know" and reports from the set. This is NOT definite information but from what i have read, i am excited by it (even if Donna and Rose are in it (you know my views already)). See what you think from that link.

Well next Saturday the 5th of April the BBC will be showing the first episode of Series 4 called Partners of Crime at the controversial time of 6.20pm instead of the normal 7.15. Russel T Davies has spoken against the change in time and thinks the show could loose 1.5 million viewers. I personally don't think that will happen, but we will have to wait and see. As several forum members will know I'm a huge Dr Who fan and  love both the classic and new series, but i really didn't like the use of the companion Rose. Still for me things got a hell of a lot better with the introduction of Freema Agyeman (Martha Jones), and i was so disappointed when she left the series. Still she's been in the new series of Torchwood and was great and she'll be in Series 4. Here's to next Saturday i hope you all are looking forward to new Who.

I can't wait for season four.. and I don't understand how you could not love Rose.. not that I don't love Martha... but Rose was AWESOME :)

Ah Kenny, you know why i can't stand Rose. i understand the writing perspective (seeing the Doctor from the companions point of view) but from a viewer and for me i just don't get it. You mentioned ages ago about the Doctor loving a companion who he deemed equal to himself, well for me Rose did not fill that role, Martha did, she was his equal, she was able to travel earth spreading the word of his name (oops Russel T making the Doctor a religious icon there ) and also was able to combat the evil worlds of who in her own stride. But the Doctor didn't feel that way towards her so. Ok some might say he was grieving for Rose, rubbish i say. he has had far more closer companions than Rose, his grand daughter for one and sarah jane the other. Ok, Adric (not many people liked him but i thought he was ok) was able to stay with the Doctor on a mental point of view and espicially towards the end with the 4th Doctor you clearly see the Doctor needs Adric. (eg  Logolopolos). Rose was a crowd pleaser and for many a Who fan this is not great. Now you know i love Dr Who i am happy for any new episodes but it must be Doctor first companion second for me (again this is my opinion). Martha for me summed up what a ideal companion should be. Especially now after we have seen her in Torchwood, SPOILER BIT IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN TORCHWOOD as she is now part of unit. This for me is ideal. The Brigadier in Dr Who was an important role in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Doctor series, so how good would it be to bring back Martha and unit.

I hear ya Hawk... I'm just saying Rose did bring alot of 'new' who fans to the series and that can't be a bad thing. I agree I do think Martha is more of an equal with the Doctor than Rose. But I liked Rose because she was the everyday girl put in extraordinary situation and I guess she was the one I could relate too. Anyhoo.. more Who next week.. can't wait.

Oh yes new Who fans are always great so in that way yes Rose was a good. Yup new Who next week got my dvd recorder ready yay!!! When will you be able to see it?

Geekyfanboy

I think the first episode airs on Sci fi at the end of April. But I'll "get it" a day or two after it airs in the UK.

I've spent the last few days thinking about Rose and the Doctor and I've come to the conclusion that I really think that they worked well together. I know that some people don't like the idea of the Doctor being with anyone, but at some point he needs to start thinking about the future of his people.

He is the last timelord. Maybe. At some point he needs to find someone to make baby timelords with or who will there be to protect the timestream?

It's also a lonely existence. We have seen that he is lonely and that he is looking for love when the mantle of time lord isn't on his shoulders, but I think it would be nice if he found it.

I agree they did work well together i just didn't like the fact it was too much Rose and not enough Doctor buy hey ho we all have our opinions and thats what makes good conversation. Bear in mind of course The Doctor already has children and lets not forget a grand daughter. There is a big argument throughout Who fandom regarding whether the Doctor is half human, hence his love of Earth. I for one don't think he is half human he loves Gallifrey with such passion (10th Doctor) when he reminisces and has always found earth intresting and that is why he leaves Susan behind. Check out the book Lungbarrow you can get it free here

http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/ebooks/lungbarrow/index.shtml

In this book you find many secrets about The Doctor and it is hinted here that Susan may not be his biological grand daughter. This has caused a bit of a do with fans who prefer to stick to the canon. Interestingly enough two characters from the comic strip called John and Gillian are his grand children.

I'm with you on the grand daughter, but given the fluid nature of time and the fact that the grandmother has yet to be spoken of, what's not to say that Rose is in fact the grandmother? Given what has happened to Jack, I think there is still something hidden about rose that we haven't learned yet.
