Gentle Giant is a fabulous band and should have gotten wider recognition. It's unfortunate that progressive rock only saw a few brief shining moments, in the limelight, when there is so much great progressive music out there.

I totally agree. Gentle Giant had a very interesting combination of Classical, British Folk and Funk. I was blown away by "The Power And The Glory". Progressive Rock should have had a much longer run, originally. Great to see the younger bands bringing it back.

Did you ever hear a Patrick Moraz album called "i"? It was done before his stint with Yes. It had some very interesting ideas.

Yes! I am very fond of that album. Of course I didn't know who Moraz was until I became a YES fan but when he joined the band I became interested enough to buy his material.

There a lot of progressive rock bands around and always have been but they just don't get any airplay except on Internet stations or obscure college radio shows. Another group I would highly recommend is Glasshammer. I would say they fall under the Symphonic Prog category. Here is their website:

Check them out! I think you would be pleasantly surprised!

Listened to some selections from "JOURNEY OF THE DUNADAN". There's definitely a Rick Wakeman/Keith Emerson vibe there. Very nice. Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome! Yes they are very keyboard oriented. Do you like Camel? If you like guitar oriented material their stuff is excellent. Another obscure but cool band is Jade Warrior.

Don't know them. Will have to check them out. I need to listen to Aural Moon on iTunes. Perhaps I'll hear them there.

Ktrek

Yea...I'm sure Aural Moon plays them. I love chatting about progressive rock. It's hard to find people who even know what it is let alone like it! lol

Cool. Thanks. I've been listening to a lot of Electronica in recent years. Time for a change.

You can also learn a lot about progressive music at this site called Progressive Ears. They also have a pretty active chat room and people are always chatting about music in there. Here's the link:
