Robots have long been used in sci-fi films and I love them! Going all the way back to Metropolis you have Fritz Lang's Maria.  Robots like B9 have often been used for comedy relief in films. The influence of R2D2 and CP3O as well as Short Circuit's Johnny-5 attest to that. What is really cool is that these robots all take on personalities that we can relate to. Even the Gunslinger from Westworld was a the bad guy and we knew it. Gort from The Day The Earth Stood Still didn't speak but his role in the movie was critical to the overall plot and the sense of wonder and the unknown as he gaurded the flying saucer. Below are pics of each to remind you of who is who with their names below the picture. If there is a robot I have left off the list feel free to add to the hall of robots and please also post a pic so we all know what robot you are referring to. So here goes the hall of robots!! *Ktrek starts weird spaced out sci-fi music*  :D  Tell us what/who is your favorite and why!

Wow KTrek.. love all those pictures. Looking at all those brought back great memories. If I had to choose one robot as my favotire it would have to be R2D2. He's just cool...

Ktrek

I like Robby the Robot the best. I just think he was one of the coolest and best looking. He's also appeared several times over the years and the design seems to be timeless.

BTW I was going to post this in the General Topics area but since it was directly related to film and TV I decided to put it there instead. Sorry guess I should have gone with my first choice!

I would say R2D2 is my favorite for always coming through when most needed with Robot B9 a close second as he was looking out for Will and the Robinsons, and talking back to Dr Smith.
I also really liked Zero from Earth 2

Ktrek

Zero was cool! I'm sorry I forgot about Zero! Thanks Jeff!

You know what, I can't decide. b9, nomad, and twiki are leading my list. But I can decide on my least favorite.... well my worst memories at least.. Vincent brings them up .  I was soooo hyped about the black hole, and then was sooooo disappointed by it. Yep... I am still feeling the pain after all these years, and seeing vincent just brings all those feelings back... lol

That's hilarious Duffster! Yea...I'm not all that fond of The Black Hole either. I can't believe that there are enough fans of the film out there for Disney to release it on DVD but they did!

Robby for me - a classic!

A close second would be the B9 robot from Lost in Space.

I have to go with the Jupiter (#?) Robot - the original series.  He's the first robot I remember.   Loved the episode when was as big as a house.

Mark,

I am assuming that you are referring to B9? The Robot from Lost in Space? :confused
