Rico,

Congrats on a great Podcast, listened to it on both my drive in and back from work today! It was long but it held my interest.

Not much to add, most of the comments below cover it for me as well.

Though it might be a little harsh to hear, I agree with the "a jumble of engineered crowd pleasing elements" from Poodyglitz.

I'm a Obee One kind of guy.

PS Prayers for the kids in VA. May a force be with them and their families.

Get on the Wait List for an item you want.  I have done that with a few things and they always get returns and cancellations so you can usually get what you want.

I was speaking of the movie, not the podcast (just want to be clear on that).

Good podcast Rico.   Like probably a lot of us, I had grown up on "Star Wars" and was extremely excited to hear that we were going to get more movies.  I remember I used to have dreams about seeing it years before it came out.  That first Teaser and Trailer looked soooo much like real "Star Wars" it was amazing.  I watched them over and over.  I couldn't help being a little disappointed when I actually saw it.  Granted, my expectations were probably higher than any movie that's come out.  It was probably higher than "Empire" or "Jedi" since I'd waited so long to see another "Star Wars" film.
I also hated the midiclorian explanation of the force and Anakin's birth at the time.  I thought it was an almost Trekian technobabble explanation for something that didn't need explaining.  I think, though, that the reason Lucas did it was explained in "Revenge of the Sith".   I'm at work and don't have the movie in front of me right now, but doesn't Palpatine explain to Anakin in his story in the Opera that the Sith had the power to create life through the midiclorians?  He doesn't come out and say he created Anakin, but I always interpreted that as Palpatine somehow used his Dark Force powers to create Anakin who would be the ultimate Jedi apprentice.  I think that makes Anakin's birth and lack of a physical father much more interesting.

These guys lose me when they get too mystical/messianic. I still haven't seen the last Matrix movie because of the second one. I was fine when Neo was Superman inside the matrix, but rolled my eyes when he stopped the sentinels in the real world.

I love when you talk about other things for like 20-30 minutes and then you realize you havn't gotten to the movie and or episode yet. It really makes it seem more like a friendly conversation, and less like a talk show about the movie.   you know?

You also make a great point about Jar-Jar.  I do not like him at all, but as you said.  He's still being talked about today, still is in fan cartoons and i'm sure kids liked him.  And that makes him popular.  As much as I hate to say it.

One negative thing about the movie is this, and if it's been said before I apologize.  I really think the dialouge is very sub-par, and even boring at parts.  Lucas has some great actors in that movie, Liam Niesen, Samuel L. Jackson,  Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman.   I really think that he didn't use thier acting skills to the full extent.

speaking of Mr. Jackson i forgot he was Mace after all usually Samual swears every other sentence, if he was in BSG they would probebly give up on censoring it

JoSpiv - thanks for the comments about the podcast and how I approach it.  I do try to have some fun with it and discuss other things before the main topic.  But I also try to keep each show around an hour or so, which makes it a bit tricky sometimes.

I may just one week - probably a midweek show - just kind of chat or something.  Maybe do some kind of Q&A like:  What do you want to know about Rico that you don't know yet?  LOL!  Do you think people would enjoy that?

P.S.  I agree with your comments on the dialogue.  The writing didn't utilize the actors fully at all in Ep. I.

I for one say go for it. With as many episodes as I've listened to thus far, you're like a friend who shares his insights into the things I'm also interested in. IMHO, "Treks In Sci-Fi" is more than just a show, it's a community.

That's my :2cents

Rico about the Q & A episode.   You should look into Talkshoe.com.   It allows you to open a chat room and have people call into the show with thier phones.  Unlike skype where you need a microphone and software.  A bunch of people can call in and you choose who to mute and unmute so they can speak.

It's an excellent way to do a show like that.

I did look into Talkshoe once - I think it costs money if I recall.  I'll check again.
