Kirk simply rocks, what a fun character, and Bill Shatner.. wow. He is a character all to himself!

I love writing, and when I saw your post about doing a profile on Captain Kirk, well I just couldn't help myself... It was a quick inspiration... Thanks so much for letting me share it. You are much appreciated. I love this forum, very fun.

here it is in written form for those of you that want it....

Captain Kirk is such an icon! So because of this and his style of acting, and his ability to survive each week even after several red shirts lay lifeless on the planet... I have composed a poem for him.... and this was tough, because what rhymes with Kirk? Not much...

Ok here we go...

Ode to captain Kirk....
by Rick Moyer

ahem......

I write this poem for the guy on top
Who disables his foes with one karate chop
Show after show with dazzle and surprise
He commands with Spock on the Enterprise

What a stunning profile and cool looking hair
It's almost a rush to seem him in his chair
Barking out orders to Chekhov and McCoy
Using his Phaser to stop the alien ploys

Klingons hate him and Vulcans agree
His illogic eludes them but his passion is free
For every girl or lady alien he tips,
winds up kissing this guy on the lips.

Oh captain Kirk you are the man on the show
You help us dream big as you boldly go
where no one has gone, not even in cars
With the help of Sulu you fly through the stars.

So save us again chief captain of the series
Explore new planets and let Spock share his theories
Even though we've seen you a hundred times before
It's with great anticipation that we come back for more.

May your journeys continue in movie eleven
I hope you get acting before you wind up in Heaven,
for to see you once more on that big silver screen
Would be a crowning achievement of a life long lived dream.

Go for it Bill! Don't ever get stuck
Your character rocks, so never give up!
Take us once more and through the stars fly on please

Okay just finished listening to the podcast and I really enjoyed it. As some of you may know I'm not a huge TOS fan so alot of the Kirk info was new to me and very intresting.

I like the idea of doing these as mini casts midweek when you have the time. Also maybe you can do other characters from the Sci Fi and Fantasy world.

Rico! Just got done listening to the entire podcast. Great stuff, very informative, and it makes me want to watch some more of TOS! I agree with you, Shatner is Kirk, and Kirk is Shatner. It will be interesting to see if they find someone who will act like Shatner for the movie, hmmmm.

I ha-ve- had enough of yooooooooou! (kick Klingon)

It was fun to do. I did pass over a few things pretty quickly but I mainly wanted to give a good overview of the character. Thanks again for the poem - it was very cool of you to do on such short notice too.

I really enjoyed this episode and learned a lot about Kirk. Thanks for doing the show, and look to forward to future shows. I agree with Kenny on doing some future ones on other Sci-Fi characters as well.

Well shoot - I got to stop doing new things on the podcast. You guys just then want me to do more of them..... hehe. ;) Glad folks liked the JTK special. I could definitely see doing more. Especially Trek & Star Wars characters and other Sci-Fi favorites.
