A new movie set is coming out this September with all the goodies and extras from the last two Trek films.  Learn more at the link below.

I find it interesting how the marketing team sounded like they were generally unaware that the original sprayed release would be so poorly received. I am not sure if I am surprised by it or not. Maybe this is one of those generational things, where a lot of these people who might be making the decisions on the distribution, are 20 and 30 somethings that might not have grown up with Trek, and did not realize that the fan base buying the Blu-Rays are probably older Trek fans who crave all the extras they can get in one package. I guess with younger generation more into getting content digitally, they were more focused on that delivery method. It is good they are going back and making this package, I will probably get this, even though it does feel like a double dip, but I like the extra content.

I'm getting to the point now where I don't buy the home media release until a year later simply because I know a better version will be released later on.

I'd love to be able to see all the special features but I'm not willing to double dip just for those. I've not found the movies themselves all that re-watchable. I enjoyed the first one when it came out and the second not so much at all. Having recently re-watched the first one I found it is not as good as I once thought when it first came out in the theater. So, I'm just going to be satisfied with the versions I have rather than put out more money for films I'm not likely watch all that often and the special features probably only once.

I probably won't double dip either. I really like the version of STID I got from Target because it had an awesome cover and quite a few extras on it. Now if I ever see it for 10 bucks down the road I might double dip.

They are offering a $5.00 rebate if you purchased the film previously and get this new set.

They'd have to offer a lot more than $5.00 to get me to bite. Just don't think there's enough meat there to justify a double dip.

Well, considering most places that put out new editions/versions of films don't offer any kind of rebate at all for those that bought previous releases I think it's nice they are doing a little something.

Review of the set at the link below. Sounds like some great stuff in the package - especially the IMAX format version of "Into Darkness."

I've never heard of anyone offering a rebate that's a nice touch.
