Just got back from the movie. It was awesome!  I really enjoyed it.  The film was way better than I expected.  I think just about everyone here on the forum will enjoy it.  But you never know! :)

It seemed to go by very quickly, the sign of a good flick.

For those who were like me and foolishly walked out of the theatre before the final credits. After all these movies, I should know better

Thanks to the heads-up I got on this forum, I stuck around thru the credits to see the final scene.  I liked it.  I always thought Sam Jackson was an ideal choice to play the Ultimate Universe version of Nick Fury.

By the way; I almost slapped myself in the face for not picking up on the agent's S.H.I.E.L.D. references until the 3rd or 4th time.  As a comic fan, I expected better of myself!  :blush

Yep, this movie was awesome, but you guys already know that.

Awesome is right.  I want to see it again.  :)

I have to admit; I felt a little guilty at some of the joy I got from the film.  Some parts could be considered by many to be sexist; and though the film never comes out and says it, it is easy to see that part of the effect it has on audiences is due to its blatant manipulation of many of the fears and feelings of resentment the nation still harbors over 9-11.  The bad guys are never labled as terrorists or given a name that would be recognized from the real world, but I don't think that their nationality is simply a coincidence.

I also know that I'm not the only one who got a vicarious thrill from seeing Iron Man sweep into the battlefield and jump in to help out the villagers, or who got a kick from watching his escape from captivity in his prototype suit of armor.

Awesome movie.  The technology in CGI that was displayed in Transformers seems to have affected movies such as this.  10 out of 10 stars for just an all-around good movie.

Kudos

I like that they put stuff at the very end of the movie. Working in the industry I always sit through the credits as all those people deserve to be seen. They work hard on the movie and out of respect it's my job to sit there and read the names. So to have an extra scene tagged on the end is a reward for sitting there... at least that's how I look at it.

you probably have better cinema's than we have ha ha. I've sat through some credits as i agree it's good to see names but sometimes you've been there for nearly 3 hours and you've got to go and stretch the legs. What would help people stay is if they could cut down the waiting game. Adverts they could go i mean really does anyone once they have sat down think hey i've just seen a coke commercial what a great idea i'll go to the foyer now especially so i can annoy everyone who has sat down. Get rid of them, and the crap orange mobile phone adverts and just have trailers. Oh and i'd ban pop corn. Actually when are they going to make cinema's with headphone adapters in the chairs so you can plug in and not listen to people talking, giggling, telling the cretin next to them about the plot, or surping the drink and then sneezing it over you. Erm sorry off on a rant.

I guess you pay for the whole experience.  Man, if they didn't have popcorn at the movie theater, it wouldn't be worth it!  :)    :juggle

I'm with you Rick, I like the whole experience of going to the movies.  I go fairly often and there have only been a few times where I was bothered by someone else.  Usually a young child crying or talking.  It's just fun to be in a filled theater on opening day with a lot of people jamming popcorn in their mouths all watching the same film together.

Ah the differnece between you fun filled Americans and us slighlty annoyed Brits. I jest about the popcorn because i enjoy nacho's and salsa more but i do get so annoyed by talking. We have a serious problem with people having a lack of respect in this country.  We don't have ushers or attenies to keep an eye on things, hell we don't even numbered seats anymor. Now I don't mind some hushed tones etc but full on conversations is just not on. Now i'm talking about England here and i'm used to going to the cinema sitting down in silence to enjoy a good film, ok laughing is great, shocked gasps of horror or anticipation is brilliant but talking about the football or what you plan on doing on the night at a nightclub is just not on. That is the reason why cinema attendances is down in England. I just don't get talking in cinema's. Go to the bar and have your chat instead of interupting my enjoyment. Now my friends have been to the flicks in the states and they said that it's a brilliant experience because everyone enjoys the film together, laughs together etc but they also said that you don't get people  talking through the film. I think that's why you both enjoy the cinematic experience more than i do here in England. I'll have to come over to your country to experience the differnece in cinematic feel, Australia cinema was great i enjoyed that. I'm rambling now......

Rico

It's not really a whole lot different here in general.  Just depends on the group you end up with.  For example, for a movie that I really like and see when it opens I will go back a week or two later and see it with hardly anyone in the theater during an early showing.  That way I can catch any parts I missed due to crowd noise, etc.  But this is a bit expensive - especially these days.

jedijeff

I know for myself, I usually go to matinees, as the theatre is usually less full then in the evenings. For the most part people are pretty quiet and watch the movie with everyone else. I can see your frustration Hawkeye if people people are carrying on like that. For me, I can only really think of a few times in the past few years where people were overwhelming annoying, so on the whole It has been pretty good. For me, if I can, I try to sit away from large groups of people, especially groups of teen age girls who look like they might have cell phones. I think the cost of movies now might make people more attentive, at least where I live. If you are paying over 12 dollars for a movie, you would hate to waste it away talking about things you could talk about later. I know a few years ago, where I live they were talking about movie theatres serving alcohol. Fortunately that did not happen. I could see where there would be people getting up every few minutes to go to the bathroom, or guys making beer runs in the middle of the movie for their group, and end up spilling a bunch just like you see at sporting events, or just being more generally loud.

Having worked for a cinema in the past for several years, I can say that the cost of the ticket directly affects the experience of the movie. When you go to one of the discount times or theaters, you tend to see more talking or chatting though the movie. When you go to one of the Ultra movie houses with the stadium seats and the double digit ticket prices.

There is a house here that has 20 buck tickets, but you get your own little table and stuff for the movie. They sale mixed drinking and offer a menu for the show.

Here is the place right outside of my town and what they offer:
