I didn't get a chance to go see Gravity today but this evening I was looking through Netflix sci-fi section and stumbled upon a real gem of a film Called Europa Report (2013). I never heard of the film before but it had a decent Netflix rating. It is quite an amazing film. Very well done and believable. The film was done in somewhat of a documentary style about a group of international astronauts who board a deep space mission to search for life on Jupiter's moon Europa. The visuals are quite realistic. The spacecraft seems like something Nasa would or could build. All the special effects and sets were some of the best I have seen. It is a pretty intense film though and not typical Hollywood fare. If you have Netflix you really ought to check this film out! 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

I liked the film too, the effects of months in space on the crew were most interesting.

A follow-up to this story could be written.
Sure didn't end the way I thought it would

No I haven't seen that one Marko. I'll keep an eye out for it though. Unfortunately it's not available on Netflix streaming.

What about Stranded? Has anyone seen that one about a mission to Mars that crashes and the astronauts have to try and survive.

Finally watched this movie last night and enjoyed it.  Always up for some semi-realistic tale of space travel.

Maybe I'll give this one a go tonight.  Have the TV to myself.  :)

If you liked that.. try the BBCTV series Space Odyssey: Voyage To The Planets.

Very similar look and tech, this is a beautifully made pseudo documentary.
