I was a bit to old when Transformers came around back in the 80's, so I am not really of the Transformers generation. But I have to say, I enjoyed the first 3 movies, and I suspect this one as well. Just something about giant robots fighting really get my attention, and I have never been to concerned about any deficiencies in the plot or story. Lately I have been starting to watch older cartoons I missed out when I was younger, I have seen the old cartoon movie, but I might seek out the cartoons at some point.

I'm not a fan of the past films but i'll still give this a go. I was kind of hoping that the old truck was Optimus (ala G1) lol. At the end of the day they are pure popcorn films and nothing wrong in that :D

Saw this movie last night and pretty much enjoyed it.  If you liked the previous ones in the series, this is more of that.  Giant robots fighting, girls in shorts running from them, buildings getting trashed, etc.  It was a bit long, but I did enjoy seeing the scenes filmed around Detroit (especially them using some of the GM Tech Center as CIA HQ - a place I visit often for work).  Anyway, very much a big, popcorn film.

I have yet to watch one of these.

You are not missing anything.

Now that Megan Fox is not in them, the possibility of me going is more remote..

I saw this today, I agree with Rico, it was a bit long. To be honest, I felt they could have trimmed about 45 minutes to an hour out of it, and I think it would have been a nicer length. I usually like Mark Wahlberg, but had a tough time really buying his character in this one. There actually seemed to be a lot of characters in this, so it got tough to keep track of who was fighting who as there seemed to be villains ontop of villains. But it was definitely a popcorn flick, the sound system was really rocking and shaking the theatre.
I never really followed the Transformers when I was younger, as they sort of got popular when I was going into my Teens so I had moved onto other things at the time. But I get the impression that the attitude that Autobots had in this movie was a bit more inline with the cartoons. Not sure if I really cared for it a lot, as I found they got annoying at times. Could not really understand why they did not just pickup and leave, as they never really sounded overly enthusiastic when convinced to help out.
I enjoyed the first hour or so quite a bit that showed Mark Wahlberg as the crazy inventor dad. But some of the robot action got tedious. But it's very impressive what they can do technically in these films and show how seem less a car can transform into a giant robot. They are the epitome of the summer popcorn movie and I still enjoy them.

Me and the wife got to see this Monday since she had a vacation day to use and we both liked it and me more so. I thought it was really good and lots of fun. I would say Optimus Prime is my favorite and Trish likes Bumblebee. I also loved those Dinobots! I would agree though with what some of you said about the length of the movie since it did last almost 3 hours!
So where is Optimus off too??
Rico

I'm not an expert on the Transformers but,...
I think Optimus is off to find out who created them way back, ages ago.
