Just so those on the west coast get some Shuttle love too, the Shuttle Endeavour will be heading out to La La Land and will land at LAX on Sept. 20th.

Wow - looks like they are cutting down about 400 trees in order to move the shuttle through the streets of LA.  Sorry, but is this really necessary?

Well that's not great. You'd think they'd be able to airlift it into place or something.

I guess it's too heavy to airlift and they can't take it apart or use freeways due to it's size.  Well, the lumber yards will be happy.  ;)

I saw this on the local news last night. Funny that The Guardian actually gives a toss about trees in California but whatever. Kind of a tempest in a tea pot considering they will replace the trees.

Looks like the shuttle needs folding wings!

I'm not sure you'd have found anyone to have flown it if the wings were supposed to fold! I know some jets do, but given the stresses this thing was designed to handle...

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Wish I could see this.  I hope to see the shuttle on the deck of the Intrepid in December (when we do our traditional family weekend in Manhattan).
