My NCC-1701-A project
« on: July 01, 2012, 04:58:35 AM »
Well, I finally bought this kit.  Haven't decided how extensive to go in building her up but I'd like to do at least some basic lighting and a few other details.  Given my limited spare time it should take me the next year to do it, but you have to start somewhere.  So, it begins....

Can't wait! Did you decide on what you want to illuminate?

Not yet.  I built a smaller scale version of the -A way back not long after ST-TMP came out.  I did light that ship up in some of the key points you see illuminated during the drydock sequence.  I have a lot to map and plan out before I dig into this.  Do you have any good links to sources for lighting, addon stuff?  I know I have seen some stuff on the RPF (of course) on this.

Looks like it is going to be a great Project Rico. I hope to do one of those down the road myself but need to build up my skills a bit before I take it on.

Bryan Probably will have more details on where to go, but a few good reference sites I look at are http://culttvman.com/main/ or http://www.starshipmodeler.com/

CutTVMan is good, Starship Modeler, and HobbyTalk-http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/forumdisplay.php?f=99

There is a guy doing a build on the RPF right now that's terrific.

He's using the back-lit illumination technique for the registry numbers on the primary and secondary hull. I think done right it looks great.

Good luck with your project Rico. It will be really nice once you get done.
