Megaupload case may never see trial

The US Government did a very clever thing. They were on shaky ground in getting a prosecution but it doesn't matter. Megaupload is gone regardless.

I don't think they'd go after more respectable file sharing companies but megaupload didn't exactly hide away that they turned a blind eye to piracy.

As far as what he knew, well, that depends on their terms of service/privacy policy.  Dropbox, for an example, is not supposed to see what your doing with your data.  Unless requested by the government or you give permission.  I believe that's how it goes and if Mega was anything similar, then that's probably how it worked.  So yes, its quite possible he had no clue.  Or its quite possible he had every clue, they would have to prove that in court.  And yes, I have seen plenty of CEOs not know what their users, heck workers, are doing.  I could pull plenty of examples proving my point on this.  CEOs are one man, one man is not omniscient. 

Let's also keep in mind, I have never used Megaupload.  The accusation that the government has killed my streaming of TV/Movies is inaccurate considering I use Netflix, not Megaupload.  Them getting shut down hasn't affected me in anyway.  So I'm not lamenting over their loss.  This is all a debate to me.

And btw, I'm pretty sure Megaupload was never a risk for the safety and security of the United States.  Yes, I am quite aware that we pull plenty of black ops that would make me throw up. That doesn't make it any less wrong regardless.

I threw it out, the complex defense.  Sounded stupid in my head when I read it back to myself. 

As far as what I've said in the past, well, it wouldn't bother me if those sources died today and its not the reason I'm being an annoying pain in the butt in this thread either.  ;)
