A nice looking model of the TNG Enterprise imported from Japan is available now.  Read on...

The iconic Enterprise NCC-1701-D! Japanese model company Aoshima teamed with Diamond Select Toys to craft the ultimate recreation of this memorable 24th-century starship. From the ovaloid saucer to the glowing warp nacelles, the curvilinear lines of the Galaxy-class vessel are recreated as never before to bring Star Trek fans the classic starship from Star Trek: The Next Generation as they have only imagined it in their dreams! This ship comes in a 1:2000 scale.
This is a fully-finished, fully painted, and ready-to-display ABS plastic model of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D from Star Trek The Next Generation. The model measures 32cm long and includes internal LED lighting effects for the windows, deflector array, and warp drive units. The saucer section separates from the engineering section, the Captain's Yacht separates from the saucer section, and the set includes a shuttle (NOT to scale). All separable parts are held together by very strong magnets. Includes a display stand that will hold the ship in separated or unseparated modes. The "aztecing" is rather well done, too!

That is really nice but I think it's just a nicely painted version of the Diamnond Select ship which came out a few years ago that I already have.

Possibly Bryan.  What scale was the Diamond Select ship?  This one also has some internal lighting and detachable sections too.

Bryancd

It's 15" long and does light up and play spund effects and had a removable saucer. I thought you had one as well. It looks like the same mold for sure.

That is a nice looking ship and stand, but I think like Bryan said, probably a repaint of the current NCC 1701 D from Diamond Select. Sounds like from the description the same ship.
My NCC 1701 D took a tumble last week from it's stand. I wish Diamond would make the Stands better as NCC 1701 D is a real heavy ship. I will have to build a new Stand, since the one that came with the ship broke. Fortunately the ship was not broken, but I can hear something rattling inside, so not sure if the electronic are broken on it. Will have to investigate a bit more

Hey Jeff, the ball joint of one my my DS stands broke and I contacted them and they sent me a replacement stand for free!

It looks great but seems a bit too white for me. Silly thing to say I know and I don't own any trek models to compare. I'd really like to have a go at building one from a kit, any suggestions oh I'm a bit crap with glue lol.

Feathers

Nerd point but did the D even have a captains yachtt? I don't think we ever saw it. I was hoping for a pic of it but I didn't see one.

I need a model ship or two but probably smaller than that. Something I can stand next to the Dalek and TARDIS I have.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Rico

Sure it had a Captain's Yacht.  Just because we didn't see it in action in the series doesn't mean it wasn't there.

Captain's Yacht

True, but we never heard of it either. I assume it was in the ship design for the series but was just never used for a story.

Its been used in Star Trek books as far as I know, but Insurrection is the only cannon show/movie that has ever used the Captains Yacht.  (Unless I forgot something).

As Tim mentioned, it was in the film, "ST: Insurrection."

That was the E, not the D.

Yes, I'm aware of that.  Again, the yacht was on both ships.  When a show like "Star Trek" or many series are created a 'bible' of sorts is setup.  It list many things and facts for writers to use and pull from.  On the original series a couple of the items were a bowling alley and large botanical gardens.  Just because it isn't shown on screen doesn't mean it doesn't exist.  The Enterprise is a big ship.  They just finally got around to using the yacht in the movies.

Here's a pic of my Captain's Yacht...
