So sad when I heard this, the Dragonriders of Pern was a favorite fantasy series of mine from going way back.  My Aunt Sandy introduced me to these novels when I was still in junior high, and I've loved them ever since though I lost touch with some of the latest ones.  McCaffrey's son has taken over the franchise, I believe, they wrote a couple of the newer stories together and he's done some on his own as well.  If you've never read Dragonflight, Dragonquest, and the White Dragon...it's a great way to get hooked on a wonderful world.  She will be missed by many.

I was also a big fan of those early Dragonrider books. She was a terrific fantasy writer.

Some of my earliest, fond memories of reading really great fantasy literature.  Rest in peace Anne.

She was a real titan of the genre.

Been reading these books forever and will still return to them on ocaasion. Her son makes a good effort, and it's great to hear more from Pern, but the flair is not there in the same way.

A great talent laid to rest.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.
