So, I read somewhere recently (Blastr.com)  that at ComicCon, Scott Bakula made the statement that there IS a Quantum Leap big screen movie in the works:
"The good news is that Don [Quantum Leap creator Donald P. Bellisario] is working on the film script and has a big time Hollywood producer who wants to do it ... It's about time. But what I always thought would happen, happened ... [that he's now too old for the role]. But Dean [Stockwell, who played Al] and I will have a part in it somehow.
Don did say that as he was writing, he told me he was having trouble, 'getting you and Dean out of my head.' But I know he will do it."
YEAH! Al  :cheers

I've heard talk about this for a few years now.  I'm a huge fan of the series and would love to see a film of some kind done.  And Scott Bakula has been doing well these past few years, even post Enterprise.  I really enjoy him on the cable series, "Men of a Certain Age."  Anyway, let's hope they find a way to make this "Leap" happen!

Just watched "A Little Miracle" (season 3) this morning and then read this - coincident?  Why would anyone say they are too old to do this movie?  must be my limited perspective.  Most of the episodes are on Netflix BTW for those who have that.  Several episodes per year are reserved to be seen only on the disk and I had this particular ep at home just now.

This is definitely one franchise that would not interest me at all with new actors in the lead roles. I guess I might have said that about Star Trek too but that's my initial reaction.

I think if the did it right it would be good with other actors.

Wow! Never expected that to happen for sure ! Truly loved the series. Hope they do a good job
What a flavourful expression on your face.

I think that too much time has passed for the character and if the movie was about Sam and Al, you'd wonder what they've been up to all of this time. We know Sam never makes it back home already, but we also know that other leapers join into the body swapping, time traveling adventure. Maybe they go looking for Sam and that's the story of the new film? I'm hard pressed to see a way for it to be worthy of the big screen if the original format is continued. The stories are basically period pieces with the main character taking an unknown role. Great on the small screen, but not something ... BIG.

X, I agree with you. While I LOVE Scott Bakula, I think a re-boot of the story would work much better. Retell it with new, fresh actors.

I agree with X. Making a continuation (as much as I'd watch it) isn't big screen material.

If they're going to do it then I suspect they have to go back to the start and make it as much about the experiment itself as it is about the consequences. New actors would then be almost a requirement rather than a hinderance.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Agree that I'm not sure this would work on the big screen regardless of the actors. QL was a great episodic series due to it's format so I'm not sure how a movie would work.

Maybe a reboot TV show? Then again I was a big fan of Journeyman which was criminally cut short.
