Universal Adapts Krofft's "Sea Monsters"
By Garth FranklinThursday, September 11th 2008 12:08am

Universal Pictures and Mosaic will create a live-action film based on the Sid and Marty Krofft's 1973-75 kiddie show "Sigmund and the Sea Monsters" reports Variety.

Dana Gould, a writer-producer on "The Simpsons", will pen the script about a sea monster booted from his home by his nasty brothers for being too nice. Sigmund is befriended by two friends who stash him in their clubhouse.

Universal and Mosaic recently completed production on the $100 million Will Ferrell starrer "Land of the Lost," another property that originated as a Saturday morning Krofft kidshow creation.

Sony is also developing a live-action version of "H.R. Pufnstuff".

For shame, Hollywood!  No more remakes!

Aren't there any film studios out there with Original Ideas?  :D

I didn't like the show when I was a youngster, I doubt I'll see it when it comes out.
