"Superman Returns" sequel a go

Seems like this is finally moving forward.  I'm excited because I really enjoyed what Singer did on the last one.    :superman

Singer Confirms Superman Sequel

Superman Returns director Bryan Singer told Empire Online that he has begun work on a proposed sequel, expected to be called Superman: Man of Steel.

That partly confirms a rumor previously reported by IESB.net that Singer would re-up for the sequel. The other rumor, still unconfirmed, is that Transformers writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman would write the script, taking over the franchise from Superman Returns scribes Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty.

"Yes, I'm just getting back with writers after the strike," Singer told Empire. "We're just in the development phase. I'm starting to develop a sequel ... with the intention of directing it."

Singer is aware of criticism about his earlier effort, which some said lacked enough action. "The first one was a romantic film and a nostalgic film," he said. "I'll be the first person to own up to that without making any apologies for it. I knew it was going to be that from the outset. And now that the characters are established, there's really an opportunity to up the threat levels. ... Clearly there'll be a body count [laughs]. From frame one, it will be unrelenting terror! All those teenage girls who found the movie and mooned over James Marsden or Brandon [Routh]? Well, I'm going to wake them up!"

I'm a big superman fan, and i was a tadge disappointed with singers version, i still liked the film but it was the little things that upset me, eg daft things like the size of the S on his chest, the lack of insignia on the cape and kevin spacey's lex was a bit too washy. Still another supes film is good news in my book.

I'm willing to give Singer another chance with the franchise but Superman Returns was a huge dissapointment to me. I just didn't think that Brandon Routh was very...well...super. In fact I'd prefer that they recast the role myself.

I thought he was ok as Kent, but yeah i have to agree Kevin he didnt come across as the man of steel. I know this is a s**t in the dark and he wouldn't do it but i could see Viggo Mortensen in the role. He's got that erm superman style chin, ha ha how crap does that sound, good job i'm not a casting agent with comments like that.
