I just got done watching the episode from Season 3 called The Offspring, on Spike TV. Of course I have seen it a million times but when I think of my favorite episodes of TNG it never comes to mind and I think that is pretty sad since it's one of the best TNG episodes ever. If you don't know this episode by title it's the one where Data creates his daughter Lal. This was a great Data story. The acting is superb and this is a true Trek story with morals and heart. I remember seeing this for the first time and just being brought to tears when Lal dies. Lal was such a great character and it would have been great to see her continue in the series.

Does anyone else remember this episode?

I love that episode, Kenny.  Along with Measure of a Man, I consider it one of the more emotionally resonant Trek episodes.

Definitely a good one and on my list to podcast about sometime.

One of my favorites. Brent Spiner did a fantastic job. The way he protrayed the android lack of emotion when Lal was explaining her emotions was fantastic. Definitely way up there on the TNG list of favorites.

I love this episode as well.  I like it for many reasons, some of which you have posted, but I also liked seeing the whole sci fi angle to things.  Putting her foot on, the cool lab that Data was working in, etc.  It is one of those episodes I could watch over and over.

Nice.

Commander, what are you intentions for my daughter?

hehehe.

This is one of the few Star Trek eps that brought tears to my eyes.  One of the best Kenny, for sure.  The actress that played Lal was wonderful and so many chances for Brent Spiner to shine.  And Pickard remembered one of the best lines in TNG...such a small moment but hilarious.  Great choice for a podcast.

yeha it was a good episode.  Its kinda sad that Lal failed.  It would be pretty cool to have another android on the enterprise.

I agree Kenny. This episode was one of the absolute bests. And yes, I have to admit, I shed quite a few tears Data when Lal died.

I love the funny moments in the show...especially the scenes with Riker. The actress who played Lal, Hallie Todd, was great. Since this episode she's been on "Going Places", "Brooklyn Bridge" and  "Malcolm in the Middle". Recently, she has been doing cartoon voices.
