Definitely one of the old masters of Science Fiction. He had been sick for a few years, but it still a sad passing. Slaughterhouse Five is definitely up there on my list of must read classics.

I remember seeing the Slaughterhouse Five movie back in college.  Great film.  A true master writer.  He will be missed.
