i just watched my copy of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, the 2hr movie. i was wondering if anyone in the forum can tell me , was this show the first network sci fi show after star trek?
the model work on this show was awesome.

I believe at the very least Logan's Run TV series beat BSG to the small screen by a year as I recall. UFO, Space 1999, the Bionic shows, what am I missing? Those all pre-date BSG as well.

There were several SF series on before BSG as a series, but after Trek.  Here are a few besides the ones Bryan mentioned:  The Starlost, Planet of the Apes, Fantastic Journey, Man From Atlantis, Quark, Space Academy, etc.

Did the Questor Tapes ever make it onto broadcast TV? I remember watching it on a ratty VHS.

All of those are right, but you could say it was the first space opera TV show influenced by Star Wars, with designs by Star wars' Ralph McQuarrie!

I thought Quark was so funny. For me, most of these are at the extreme fringes of my memory. I was a little too young to really understand Space 1999, I loved the space stuff but a lot of the characters I didn't really get. I do have very distinct memories of seeing Logan's Run in theaters and reading the novelization in 1976 and was fully aware STAR WARS by 1977 as I turned 9 that year. I do think it's funnt when people say they saw the original STAR WARS in theaters....when they were 2. I don;t exactly count that as seeing anything. :)

"Questor" was just a pilot film - not a series.  For me the 'biggie' from that era has always been "Space: 1999."  when that came out original Trek had been in reruns for awhile and us nerd/geeks were dying for something new to watch on TV.

I saw it in a drive-in at 4...it's one of my earliest well formed memories...I'll never forget that night in the back of our Cordoba.

Ohhh, OK, I remember watching Questor back in the day but I didn't know if it ever got a show. I had the Eagle toy from Space:1999 but I dodn't really know where it came from, I just thought it was a crazy cool ship.

Pretty much every sci-fi show that was on the early mornings of sci-fi and USA in the early and mid 90's fall into that category. Time tunnel was concurrent and Land of the giants started during but ran a little longer.
