Greetings from Arrakis yet again! This week Chris & Bryan get into the next 2 books in the Dune Saga, Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. We also talk about the 2002 Sci-Fi Channel miniseries "Children of Dune", which combined the two books into one story. We also get into some of the other books in the series and reflect on how wacky it all gets! Hop a Heighliner and fold space with us one more time as we travel back to the world of Dune.

Thanks guys for another cool guest podcast on Dune!

Children of Dune, Inama Nushif, Cleansing of the House montage

This is the sequence I was talking about in the podcast, the "Cleansing of the House". It still gives me the chills watch it, and the music is just wonderful...as well as the cinematography. It's also a nice homage to the finale of The Godfather.

Loved the podcast. I have fallen in love with another film score. I never go to see the Sci-Fi channel miniseries; I think I would have liked it and gotten more into Dune. The Kyle Mclachlan one always made me think it was just too weird. :)

I just listen to the podcast last night.  great podcast guys.  I have seen the moive and mini series but never read the books.  from what you have described, it seems like I am missing on something good.  the point about the sound track for children of dune was interesting, I never realized it was that great.  I had the original soundtrack to the 1984 Dune, the one by Toto.   I always thought it was assume.
I am going with the best information that I have.

Thanks guys! It's sheer torture listening to me struggling to tell this story!

Well, the books and miniseries are out there.  You summarized well. I'm the one who has to edit all of your ramblings to try and make them make sense! ;)

Just kidding, Bryan is always super prepped.

Got a double dose of Chris today with TrekSF and Ragtag. Great work gentlemen. I've really gotta try harder to get through Dune.

Chris & Bryan - really enjoyed More Dune during my commutes the last two days!  Good stuff.  Man, it sounds to me like you both really know your Dune!  Now I have to watch Children of Dune - your descriptions were too good to pass up, you've planted a Netflix bug in me.  And now I know that Vartok is a verb, as in Let's Vartok that music.  LOL!  Finally, I have the Children of Dune soundtrack - it just moved to number one on my next listen.

Yeah, really great show again guys.  I had forgotten how great that music in the miniseries was.  Thanks for getting me geeked about it again.

Correct, I believe I said, "Let's Vartok that sucker!" :)

You guys do know alot about Dune! I do remember the mini-series from Sci-Fi channel and I also enjoyed the Children of Dune better. However I didn't remember the music but after what you said about it I want to check it out. Good job, guys.

Just finished the podcast and it was great!
I have read all of the books right up to Sandworms of Dune which finishes the story.  Can't see why there's Leto of Dune etc, the story is complete.

I have just started watching Children of Dune having not been inclined due to not having been impressed with the Dune mini series but after listening to the podcast I have given it a go and am near the end of the first episode and I am glad I did!  Thanks for the recommendation.
During the podcast you mention a Dune book by Tisserand (I think it was)?  I can't find it.  Any ideas?

Thanks for the podcast.  I hope you want to do another in the future.
