Anyone getting Mountain Lion for their Mac?  I'm curious if you do what you think of the new Dictation feature and how well it works for you.  Sounds pretty solid.

Mountain Lion, the next big software cat for your Mac, has a gazillion new features. Too many to name, and frankly, to care about. But there's one you should pay attention to, because it might change all of computing.
Dictation is one of the most straightforward new parts of OS X Mountain Lion—so simple that it's easy to overlook. All you do is double-tap a button, start talking wherever you'd type, and your computer fills in the words you speak. It's a stellar replacement for the bulk of casual typing that fills up our conscious hours. And it's fast!—you truly feel like you've got an attentive secretary stuck somewhere in that tiny aluminum chassis. Apple says Dictation will even adapt to your voice over time, making it more accurate and attuned the more you plow through it. Neat....

I'll be getting it when it comes out and I'll definitely give this a whirl. I've never been sold on voice commands and dictation as a viable way to interact with a computer.

"Hello, computer." :)

See that's the thing. It works great on Star Trek because there's only ever one person talking to the computer at once. Say Picard and Data are leaning over science station 1 doing some type of important investigative research into some acient civilization. It NEVER happens that the ensign at science station 2 is doing his own work, talking to the computer and interrupting them.

Imagine sitting at your current day desk in cubicle land and having you and every other person blabbing at their computers.

I use this on my pc now and unless it's like 2000% faster, I'm not impress with the tech. Hell, the tech came standard with vista and 7, but people just failed to notice and paid for dragon anyway

the adapting to your voice over time part seems handy.
i wonder if it will work in other languages as well....

I tried Dragon Dictation, was very Miss and Miss. Didn't know Windows 7 had dictation, it's not exactly featured.

Yeah, it's in the Easy of access center. It's been around for some time and there are a bunch of other features on the OS that are there, but not something that most people are actively using. If you ever did the tutorial for Vista or 7, the features are there.

Keep in mind voice recognition software can vary from platform to platform.  I've tried it on Windows before and have found it lacking.  I'm hoping the new Mac version might be better.
